MAGNUM! This is an unique blend of all the permitted grapes in Chateauneuf (red and white), named after Rudi’s grandfather, that plays well above its humble Vin de Pays du Gard, complex, rich, structured, needs 5+ more years, great wine!!
(Disclosure — Rudi is a friend through my brother, who imports his wines, but the front label shows the 12th Century chateau on the Rhône across from Chateauneuf, just south of the Lirac appellation!!) — 3 years ago

Really nice color still, from a vintage lacking accolades, yet Rudi made a really fine little CdR this vintage, medium-long finish, very good! Cepage here is 50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Carignan, 10% Cinsault, 5% Counoise; in these earlier days, before Rudi segregated his Lirac fruit from his other CdR fruit (both in this CdR and in the “Baron Louis” CdR), this CdR was a screaming value with great quality; however, I now much prefer the basic Lirac and “Baron Louis” Lirac to the regular CdR still being produced at this domaine!! — a year ago
Good. A little bit of green apples on this, perhaps a little oxidized cause it felt like a lot older bottle but serious stuff — 4 years ago
