A lovely Chardonnay, primary notes of yellow apple and pineapple, a hint of oak but mainly crisp and fruity. Bought at Macknade Winter Wine Fayre, enjoyed at Carol and Andys at Christmas time. — a month ago
See previous note from a year ago. White florals citrus aromas and a touch of talc. Interestingly the kerosene aromas from the previous tasting seem to have diminished somewhat. The palate has medium plus intensity and excellent length. Certainly The Florita is one of the more famous vineyards in Australia for Riesling where John Vickery crafted excellent long living Rieslings under the Leo Buring label decades ago. I remember having some amazing 1973 Leo Buring DWC Rieslings in the 1980s. — 3 months ago
What a delightful bottle - great balance of black cherry, raspberry, plum and violet aromas with forest floor, mishroom, and leather. Wonderful acidity supporting the medium body and soft, velvety tannins. Fruity, fresh and great finesse. Clare Valley Dolcetto rocks — 6 months ago
I’ve asked the Delectable guys to fix the identified wine but they haven’t … it’s what you see in the photo (Capisco — an Italian sparkling wine, not a Shiraz). That said, I hope they do fix it because this is absolutely the very best sparkling wine I’ve ever had, and I’ve had many high priced French champagnes. Bubbly, but not too much so. Fruity, but a beautiful balance with the acidity. Full flavor, and just the right amount of sweetness. From WSJ Wines. Tasted 31 December 2022. — a month ago
Ticks all the boxes. Darker smokier plum stuff, like a bit of Malbec, decent mouth feel, not too sweet, just a hint of cherry or raspberry jam. — 3 months ago
Dense dark Ruby - call it black. Ripe plum, dark chocolate and the trademark menthol/eucalypt notes. Rich and full bodied. If you were blind tasting this you would never say this was 21 years old. After a while in the decanter red fruits became apparent - the profound intensity remained. A freak of a wine from vineyards, some of which date back to the 1890s. — 5 months ago
This was impressive - scored on closeout for $16: jet black, absolutely no signs of age, soaring aromas just oozing black fruit, licorice, bittersweet chocolate, exotic spice, dash of white pepper, and so much more. I know this producer as making wine in cooler climates, but this didn’t have that hi-toned fruit I was hoping for… huge extraction, massive & mouth filling, this was not so much chewy as just densely flavored with long life ahead. — a month ago
Brief notes. My first 2016. There are notes here from earlier vintages of Springvale. Dried white flowers - not a hint of TDN. The feature of this is the profound intensity on the palate. A ripe yet dry style. Will drink well through till the late 2020s. — 2 months ago
From the disappointing wet 2011 vintage in South Australia where many producers did not produce a wine, but, typically with old vine fruit from Wendouree, this showed well. Quite ripe considering the vintage, yet medium weight palate - liquorice and spice notes with excellent intensity. Those old vines cover a multitude of sins like a cold wet vintage. 11 years is rather young for a Wendouree but given the vintage this was very polished. Has enough guts to have another 5+ years in the cellar. — 6 months ago

See previous notes for the 2011 vintage. Hints of kerosene and lime. On the palate M+ intensity and excellent persistence. The following night a more fulsome body with grapefruit and citrus. A great result for the difficult wet 2011 vintage in South Australia. A truly excellent mature Clare Valley Riesling. — 17 days ago
