Medium light garnet with wide light garnet rim . This is quite open and delicate on the nose , touches of rose , cranberry , raspberry and sweet strawberry , very pretty and precise . Some spice and earthy hints underneath . On the palate this is quite sappy with fine tannins and balanced acidity. Red cherry and raspberry fruits , floral and well balanced , quite delicate but certainly with enough intensity on the palate and a silky mouthfeel . This still comes across as quite fruit driven and very refined and balanced , with good freshness . Long red fruit driven finish , just some hints of earthiness , mineral underneath . Vibrant and bright . Drinking well but still with time to go , now and over the next 5 years or so . This doesn’t grow with time in the glass as much as the Richebourg , but still showed well over the 2 hours we had it open. — 2 months ago

DRC Night at Secrets Moxché in Cancun. More La Tache and Richebourg. Blissful — 6 months ago
Switched to Richbourg as we have over consumed Vosne Romanee and we needed a different style of Burgundy to go with our Pigeon!
Usual notes of red fruits (strawberry) to begin and a beautiful fruit concentration with soft, smooth texture throughout the 2 hours we managed to hold off on chugging it! — 9 months ago

The 1990 Richebourg was bursting with aromas just half an hour after opening—violet, wild cherry, dried rose, and sandalwood. The tannins were silky, yet the structure remained intact. An excellent bottle.
The 2002 Richebourg, after four hours of decanting, revealed stunningly delicate notes of face powder—extremely fine.
The 2005 RSV (Romanée-Saint-Vivant) showed creamy aromas right after opening, followed by the classic, captivating powdery perfume typical of a warm vintage. However, compared to the one from Méo-Camuzet, the DRC's powdery note carried a more grand and graceful presence. — 23 days ago
A slight deviation in the Burgundy region - off to Richebourg, Grand Cru no less!
Sommelier recommended producer ($$$$$) an excellent choice.
Tasting notes: Sweet, candy scent upon opening (caramel/fudge) then quickly revealed a fruit structure - sweet red fruits and cinnamon sticks (we are making it sound like a dessert wine but that came next 😋) — 5 months ago

Charles Noellat 1976 Richebourg
Each bottle opened is one less in existence; without it, there would be no subsequent legends of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti or Henri Jayer.
Aged yet remarkably robust—it’s surprising how well this bottle has been preserved.
· After opening for half an hour: notes of honey, dried rose petals, and dried preserved fruits.
· After an hour: aromas of red dates, cinnamon, and a hint of spices.
· Overall impression: The fruit profile still dominates, with no woody notes emerging. The structure of Richebourg remains present, showing a rounded, ripe fruit character.
The year 1976 was renowned for its "hot, dry summer." The growing season offered ideal conditions—plenty of sunshine, high temperatures, and almost no damage from hail or other severe weather. These conditions led to perfect grape ripening. The wine is full-bodied and lush, with mature, soft tannins and very ripe, almost jam-like red fruit flavors (such as ripe cherry and strawberry jam). It still has aging potential, and this bottle retains well-balanced acidity.
What’s more, 1976 saw the famous "Judgment of Paris"—a tasting that broke the myth of the Old World’s invincibility, reshaped the hierarchy of the wine world, and established New World regions (especially California) on the international stage. It truly shows how fascinating blind tastings can be!
Next time, I’d love to try a 1976 California wine and compare the experience. — 9 months ago
Faded a bit after the first ~half hour, but still- wow. — 5 years ago
Consistent notes from 21 weeks ago. My last bottle still with the crinkled label from a humidity issue from the wine fridge. Showing sweet sappy red fruits like strawberry with Sous Bois. With further swirling Violet notes. A wonderful 1er Cru Burgundy showing the twin attributes of the 2009 vintage and the terroir of Les Suchots which shares a border to the south with Romanee Saint Vivant and Richebourg and to the north with Clos Saint Denis - all Grand Crus. Finishes with the finest of powdery tannins - basically resolved. — 6 years ago

“Richebourg” of the South per Anne Gros. Hard to read. Lots there, excellent acidity. Curious where this goes in 6-10+. — 5 years ago
