La Chapelle Hermitage Syrah 1990

Dark reddish tawny. Mostly opaque. Great reddish regal color when the light hits the glass. Notes of black cherries, blueberries, cranberries, slate stone, moist earth and a little menthol. Velvet glove in the mouth. Amazingly rich with tannins totally integrated. Silky. Flying high from the moment it was opened. 6 hours in this is getting bigger and more complex. Definitely the best performance I’ve had with this wine. — 10 days ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Oh mama. As explained to me, this is the ultra rare combination of the best of the best from Paul Hobbs. And was it good? Ab-so-freaking-lutely. Very rounded mouthfeel. Nose of ripe blackberry currant, spice, cedar. You could smell the wine coming out of the bottle from about 2 feet away. Entry was all perfectly mature black fruit. As full bodied as a wine can be. The middle showing a little bit of smoke, tar, black licorice, mulling spices. This one really was perfectly balanced. The finish was still pooped, but it was a rounder type of roasted tannin. Tons of black pepper on the finish. I have no doubt this one could hold 20 or 30 years as the bones are definitely here and this one is a dense, dark, perfect example of a new age Napa Cabernet. — 23 days ago

@Paul T- Huntington Beach this is the Hobbs Winery Red which is supposed to be the Uber limited cab that goes for $700 or something crazy like that. I'm guessing I might not have indexed the right wine @Delectable Wine ?

Good to know because I’ve never seen that label or wine now that you mention the difference, how many barrels do they make of that one?

Château Thivin

Cuvée La Chapelle Côte de Brouilly Gamay 2018

Lyle Fass

A great La Chapelle. Blueberry, smoke, spice, dark cherries, loads of earth and mineral. Spicey granite. Lovely floral top note as well. Palate is ripe and so so juicy, incredible freshness and purity and shockingly mineral. The fruit is in background. Has a red Riesling quality to it this year. Fruit is more fruit skin than flesh. Cherry, blueberry, cassis and super concentrated but so nimble. Absolutely delicious. Long mineral finish with floral and fruit sneaking in as it airs. Great stuff. — 9 days ago

Champgain Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2007

4th bottle in the last 2 years. Light and natural take on this terroir. This last bottle finally showed its stuff giving off noble aromas and a nice long finish. Not my preferred take on champgain but still decent. — a month ago

Excellent young Chablis packed with minerality, squashed lemons, rich, oily lemon zest and an appetising salinity. — 4 days ago

Sous la Chapelle Volnay Pinot Noir 2014

Lyle Fass

This is in a great place now. Gorgeous nose. Beautiful earthiness on a bed of mid season cherries. Stunning and vivid wet earth. Haunting and spellbinding aromas like great Volnay can get. Very red fruited. Palate is elegant, fresh and super juicy. So clean and vivid with lovely mid season and sour cherry fruit. Lots of it and very succulent. Love 14. Love the transparency. So long. Great showing. — 5 days ago

Cuvée à l'Ancienne Grand Cru Brut Champagne 2011

Exceptional depth and balance - this wine wears its grand cru status with panache. Quite youthful with red apple, lemon, biscuit, brioche, hazelnut and hawthorn flower. Substantial yet elegant. Beautiful presentation with at twine-sealed cork — 7 days ago

Dark lush fruit from the start but tempered by notes of coffee, pecan and earth. Long finish with tannins and a very slight acidity at the end — 3 days ago

Riesling 2017

Crisp with a hint of sweetness. Nice earthy tones. Better with food than as a stand-alone. — 3 days ago
