Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet plums, blueberries, violets, black currants, cedar, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, alcohol, peppercorn and coffee.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, chocolates, light vegetables, mocha, peppercorn, leather and earth.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is another great Napa Cabernet. Well balanced and a little subdued, yet still showing Napa Cabernet characteristics. Not too extracted, which is nice to see.
This is from a great vintage, but still needs a few more years to become its own, although delicious now. A good sipping to share with friends.
Teeth staining color, so not a good choice for a first date.
Good by itself or with food. Good right out of the bottle, but definitely better after a couple of hours of airtime.
Thank you Barry for sharing.
This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in 85% New French oak barrels for 22 months.
14.2% alcohol by volume.

This wine IMO has matured and is in the ripe drinking window right now. This wine has some blackberry influence but a lot of the fruit in the front and middle seems to be boysenberry, black cherry, dates, and sweet plums. Compared to other vintages that I've had (they've all been more current in the last few years), they have all been darker for sure, but Aloft has always seemed to be a touch sweeter than the Charles Krug Cold Springs and has also usually had a bit more punch. I think this one is starting to show a tiny bit of age. I think it's been a while since I decided to open an 09 Aloft. Finished with some pepper notes and a little eucalyptus. Went well with a huge variety of seafoods in the fact that it wasn't a unidimensional blackberry bomb. Enjoyed on the last night of our beach trip. — 18 days ago
Mostly red fruits on the nose: cranberry, red cherry, with white pepper, licorice and a bit of cedar and soil. Medium ruby in color. Dry, medium + acidity, high alcohol, full bodied, palate of red to black fruit: blackberries emerge with vanilla bean. Medium tannins. Alcohol is a bit hot, but finish is long... albeit a little jammy for my taste. This is a very good wine that will get somewhat better over a couple of years.

En Mag - this is my second time around and celebrated a deal closing - as in 2017 this wine delivered - amazingly it is getting better - this is from a single vineyard at 2000 feet on Howell - this is full bodied mid palette sweet tannins with a rich nose long legs black currant berries and and I think it is getting better - ten plus years left - dark purplish color - I LOVE It and made a nice splash last night — 9 days ago
Sailin' away on the crest of a wave
It's like magic
Oh, rollin' and ridin' and slippin' and slidin'
And you, and your sweet desire
You took me higher and higher, baby
It's a livin' thing
It's a terrible thing to lose
It's a given thing
What a terrible thing to lose
