A review of 9️⃣’s for fun 😁
The 2009 was made 9 years ago @ £39 & 19 years after the 1990 @ €90 😁 so I thought it would be fun to compare how my favourite Pomerol has evolved 😁
💵 Oh & Petrus next door to this Chateau is 90 times more expensive 🤣
🥊 So 90 vs 09
🏵 90 - 97-98 points
🏵 09 - 94-95 points
🍷 90 - Garnet opaque ruby w/ bricking
🍷 09 - Opaque ruby

👃 90 - Bordeaux nasal sex of soggy earth, sooty underground 🚇, char-smoked oak, old leather, damp musty cellar, mushroom, mirabelle plums, damson compote, obliterated blackcurrant, herbs, toasted fig, bitter mocha & liquorice
👃 09 - Dark jammy plum & blackcurrant through smokey oak, choc mocha, flint, pencil lead, soggy earthy leaves & wet rock minerals
👄 90 - Med body of creamy earthy smooth silk dark plum & berry bathed in ground mocha & liquorice
👄 09 - Med+ creamy smooth ripe dark plum & blackcurrant body w/ a mocha infusion & mineral tone
🎯 90 - Long mocha liquorice dark fruits mouth filling linger w/ a big happy smile 😃

You know those nights when you need one more bottle you weren’t planning on and have no time to decant? This wine was ready pop and pour. Everyone loved it. In some cases, more than a couple more expensive bottles. Easy drinking, well balanced, not super full bodied, but perfect for the moment. Great Xmas present @Dave Z
Finishing half the bottle on Day 2 and this got even better. Changing to a 92 — 7 years ago
Shades of brick on the veneer; low variation across. Earthy, peppery, funky, fungus, tobacco leaf, dried cherry, overripe plum, violets, roses, dried bay and grill buildup. Silky palate explodes with rich red cherry and ripe plum. Prunes and fresh, ground black pepper follow while dark tobaccos and myrrh culminate. Rich, powerful, perfumed and incensed. This dungeon shadow hound from the underground begs for chunks of grilled meats!

Prior notes still apply, delicious bottle.
Nose has toasted brioche, grilled lemon, warm lemon creme, lemon zest, oxidized pear slice and fresh, rising bread dough. Palate has lemon pound cake, cold toast, limestone chips, dried lemon slice and (light) candied orange.
Great mid-palate, a restrained richness is all elegance, acid balance is perfect and not pulling you one way or another. At 15 years past vintage, a great example of finesse in Champagne.

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our Conductors Andris Nelsons and John Williams will be leading a very engaging program of Jessie MONTGOMERY (Starburst), John WILLIAMS (Violin Concerto No. 2, world premiere featuring Anne-Sophie Mutter!), COPLAND (Quiet City) and STRAVINSKY (Suite from The Firebird, 1919 version). We're getting the luxury of enjoying Mr. Williams two nights in a row...what a great weekend of Contemporary music! — 5 years ago
This easy-drinking blend will have you wanting to lock this wine away for yourself! It’s inviting nose of dark brambly fruit including bright blackberry, vanilla bean interlaced with notes of toasted oak and baking spice. On the palate, flavors of chocolate-covered berries and boysenberry unfold to rich notes of butterscotch. Soft tannins and bright acidity representative of classic Sonoma County fruit in the full!! @Ted

Surprisingly only 9.5%, but funky, unique and elegant. Discovered at Tbilisi’s fabulous Wine Underground. — 8 years ago
Very balanced. Very easy to drink. Let it sit awhile for it to open up. — 8 years ago

Seeing the sun for the first time in weeks! This wine is making my day even brighter. A rich, deep ruby color with a complex nose. Dark fruit, herbs, lavender, chocolate. Flavors of sour plum, over ripe berries, crushed herbs, vanilla. Fairly tannic and still plenty youthful, this could age a good long while. I bought the last bottle at Binny's for $25, which i think was a great deal.
