Bought arguably the most storied #chateauneufdupape from an unremarkable year at a reasonable price. 14 years later it was lovely after breathing for a while after uncorking, dried cherry, mushrooms, well balanced. Alas it faded after a couple of days in the wine fridge with some raisiny notes becoming evident; it was likely past it’s peak but still a nice wine. — 4 years ago

Incredible #chateauneufdupape which was kept casually at room temperature for many years before I was fortunate enough to receive it as a gift. Popped the cork, and within about 30 minutes it really flowered. The overall aromatic impression is a balance of spiced cured meat set against plum and red fruit compote; layers of garrigue, underbrush, mushroom below that. Luscious mouthfeel with plenty of lively acidity, stewed fruit, some olive notes but the tannins have completely integrated and softened to just a hint of what they once must have been. This is a beautiful CDP that has aged gracefully over 17 years. — 4 years ago
Lovely #châteauneuf #chateauneufdupape on the nose and on the palate it almost seems like a Pinot Noir. It has an amazing lightness and floral quality to it. Lavender and potpourri. Meaty and spicy on the palate. Good acidity with a pinch of VA showing. This is a good wine to taste for all of those who say they don’t like #Grenache #Garnacha — 5 years ago
Simply a beautiful #chateauneufdupape. Velvety tannins, some garrigue and not too much of that sweetness present in some 2016s - paired well and held its own with mildly spiced Tandoori lamb chops. — 5 years ago
Right after uncorking this was a splendid #chateauneufdupape - classic Southern Rhône red fruit aromas with traces of garrigue notes, tastes of a bright beam of raspberry purée, plum compote, soft spices. Unfortunately this 2015 wine may have peaked a couple of years ago because the next day (despite wine fridge storage) oxidized raisin & prune notes dominated the nose though the palate was still respectable. — 3 years ago
A more immediate expression of Les Quarts, the 2017 is jammed packed with fruit but oh so fresh. Masses of blackberry, garrigue, crushed stone and wood smoke rise up from the glass. It's silky and suave, displaying polished purple and blue berries, contrasted by sour citrus, with a note of sweet violet candies carried by juicy acids. While this doesn't have the depth of the best vintages, it's a pleasure-bomb of vibrant Grenache that maintains balanced throughout. #closducaillou #chateauneufdupape #grenache #rhonewine — 4 years ago
Deep ruby hue. Strong extraction, heavy tearing. Dusty earth, herbal, and black fruit notes on the nose. Fresh blackberries, black cherry jam, ripe plums, and dried figs. Smooth on the palate with a nice balance and consistency in fruit notes. Also leather, anise, baking spices, dried bay leaf, caramel, and dry potting soil. Paired well with boeuf bourguignon and mixed greens salad with fresh figs and haricot verts. Vintage 2016. ABV 14.5%. #domainedebeaurenard #chateauneufdupape #southernrhonewines #paulcoulonetfils #biodynamicwine #organicgrapes — 5 years ago

Shades of brick on the veneer; low variation across. Earthy, peppery, funky, fungus, tobacco leaf, dried cherry, overripe plum, violets, roses, dried bay and grill buildup. Silky palate explodes with rich red cherry and ripe plum. Prunes and fresh, ground black pepper follow while dark tobaccos and myrrh culminate. Rich, powerful, perfumed and incensed. This dungeon shadow hound from the underground begs for chunks of grilled meats!
