A wonderful wine to celebrate seeing our daughter whose been studying abroad. I think @Mike R would be proud of this selection. — 3 years ago
Surprisingly, I kinda liked this despite my aversion to overly-hopped beers. The nose is a straight up hop-bomb - floral, citrusy, piney. The palate's also full-on, with heaps of hoppy bitterness, but balanced by malty sweetness and tropical fruit notes (passionfruit and mango for me). Finishes crisp and earthy. Not bad, but not my kind of beer (not an IPA fan basically). — 6 years ago
At Coci Northpark San Diego. The wine. Food excellent. Very very difficult to evaluate. I think they used too much oak on this. Ridiculous big and tannic even after 12 years. And after 90 minutes. I tough it is corked at first and even at 60min. Tobacco, cigar box. Touch cherry hint of prune plum. And better with a t-bone than with the light Italian food.I think they really overdid it to please - May be Robert Parker - at the time? Give it at least 2 hours to breathe before serving!!!! — 5 months ago
2016 vintage. Mount Eden Vineyards wine dinner @Mister A’s Restaurant-San Diego. Decanted and tasted after opening and after 4hrs. Opening notes showing the baker’s pantry and a distinctive, crumbled Graham cracker vibe along with plenty of baby fat and meandering. Fast forward four hours…wine had dropped all the above and gained actual structure along with some richness, cinnamon (more the heat than the flavor) and darker fruit components. Still needs a decade plus but coming along and all the building blocks are slowly being laid in place. A small chance this wine is the best Cabernet JP has ever made. Have had more than a few (including the Old Vine Reserve (that 1991 tho, 1990 didn't suffer either)-no longer made-through the '90's) in the 90’s and 00’s laying down defined, kick-*ss parameters. 4.20.23. — 2 years ago
Bright green strawberries. Chalky. Good finish. — 4 years ago
Very interesting, kind of a peanut M&M’s taste, in a good way, definitely singular. A great melted real juice popsicle taste and feel — 6 years ago
2022 vintage. @ Mister A’s Restaurant, San Diego-Les Caves de St. Charles CDP dinner. 100% Roussanne-driven. Initial mineral indication of interest, broad mid-palate transition, yang-styled, white grape “fat” on the judiciously-honeyed finish. Wowzers. Grab you some if you can find it. 95 cases produced. Good luck with that. 11.16.23. — 2 years ago
Dark purple in color with a purplish rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Smooth and elegant.
Dry on the palate and fruit forward.
Showing blackberries, cooked plums, spices, light oak, licorice, herbs, light black tea and peppercorn.
Tangy finish with soft tannins and cranberries.
This 5 year old Syrah from San Diego County is drinking very nicely. Peaking now. Spicy, tangy and interesting.
Needs 30 minutes to open up properly and remove some of the acidity.
Easy drinking and good by itself or with food.
Aged in French oak barrels for 20 months. A tiny production of only about 250 bottles.
90 points.

Los Pilares San Diego County Red Blend 2013: Fresh. Natural. Extraordinary. Consisting of 50% Grenache & 50% Carignan, this was a light-bodied, extremely unique wine. Red fruits (cranberry & cherry). Plum. Earth. Short finish. For me, the wine was a bit thin on structure but very clean & natural tasting. This was my first San Diego County wine and it left me quite intrigued & impressed. Hoping to explore other San Diego wines in the near future. Cheers🍷 — 4 years ago
