Checks every box for a quintessential Rutherford. Full body, Fruit forward that’s deep and luscious. Desperately trying to be more but it’s just good at what it is. — 4 years ago
v18. Consistently very good! Soft toasted cedar nose. Luscious black currant and blackberry fruit with a licorice hint. Smooth , tight, black pepper, chocolate and soft strap leather finish. Nice! — 3 months ago
See previous note for this vintage and cuvée in July 2022. An exceptional Tassie Pinot Noir. My last Freycinet in the cellar which is an oversight on my part. A sweetish yet earthy palate showing savoury root vegetable flavours, like beetroot as well as black cherry. A luscious flavoursome delicious palate. I have had 15 year old Pinots from Freycinet before and this one could go the distance. — 9 months ago
And now for something completely different. Tasted blind. Deep, dark and opaque. Herbal nose. Red fruit, tobacco leaf, menthol, some old cedar planks, some stone and some moist dark soil. Luscious in the mouth. Long finish, lingers forever. In a perfect spot. I guessed 61 Mouton. So regal, with big shoulders. Bottles like this have many more years of special delivery. Top top old Bordeaux... Thanks Stan! — 4 years ago
Not sure a score is objective when it’s a birth year wine and you’re as bloody old as I am! Nonetheless, spectacular, remarkably fresh and pure. Luscious after 25 mins, rainbow of red berry and camphor, blackcurrant, subtle notes of tea and cassis, chocolate. Last sip was on the back of my palate for minutes. Old but good indeed! Luscious and oily in the best way. Incredibly perfumed, honey, lavender and white flowers dominate the nose. Creamy yellow apple and pear on the palate. Fantastic. — 4 years ago
