Fantastic wine. Meaty, gamey, bloody floral symphony in full gear. Huge granite expression as well. Awesome inner mouth aromas and density. Very Cornas. Amazing freshness from acid and granite. Richly textured but teeming with energy and the granite expression is best ever for this wine in 2023. Like, wow. Amazing finish. Why this is so slept on I will never know. Spice, flowers, deep berry fruit echo forever on the finish. Outrageous core of sweet, energetic blackberry fruit. Just such top class winemaking here. — 21 days ago

Hugely reduced out of the gates. Wow huge sulfur. Palate is red fruited, silky and so supple. Needs mega mega air. Wow what a nose now with air. Olive explosion. feral, meaty, charcuterie and so classic. Palate is so fresh, energetic and silky. So so supple. Amazing purity. Nose still not quite there but it’s going to get there. This bottle of 2020 Courbis Saint-Joseph was opened in advance but unsure of how long prior; likely before service or even the day before. The wine pours a violet color with a translucent core. Medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, deep, dark candied black fruits with purple flowers, coffee, milk chocolate and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium(+) tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes on the nose with a bit of black pepper on the finish…which is long. While this isn’t a showstopper, it is good and serves as a reminder that these wines from Domaine Courbis shouldn’t be slept on. Great value. Drink now with some patience and should drink well through 2030. — 3 years ago

Deep dark nose of bloody cornas, wow what a nose, juicy and sleek and clear. lovely, slippery red fruits and wonderful texture and opulence for a 21. So silky. Great purity and sap. Great minerals and inner mouth aromas and sicko depth. Fantastic. 9.6. Wow wow wow. So bright and energetic. Amazing length. what a mineral nose, really elegant and red fruited. Good ripe tannins.
