Medium ruby hue. Incredible bouquet: aromas and flavors of cherry, earthy, lavender, pine, raspberry, and strawberry. Medium body, with medium tannins and high acidity. Creamy palate with a lengthy finish. Highly expressive Pinot Noir. — 2 days ago

The 2005 Latour is a huge wine predestined for long-term aging. Noticeably deep in color, it has a showstopping bouquet with intense black fruit, graphite and touches of dried blood and tobacco as it considers moving into its secondary phase. But that's going to be slow coming...it's in no hurry. The palate is medium-bodied and unapologetically classic in style. I notice this bottle is a little grainy in texture, the salinity perhaps heightened as it enters adulthood. The finish has a tangible sense of tension, but it remains backward and swarthy. Immense. Tasted at Woo Cheong Tea House dinner organized by Paulo Pong. (Neal Martin, Vinous, February 2024)

The 1994 was initially a bit shy on the nose but after many hours in the decanter, it showed such amazing character. In fact, it shared some characteristics with a lightly peated single malt scotch, with light smoke, marmalade, honey, golden raspberry and wet stone. More of its character was unlocked with food. In this case, monkfish, sweet potato, leek, and winter truffle. Drink now through 2034+ — a day ago
1978 vintage. Okay fill with trashy cork. Decanted and tasted after two hours. Medium body. Fantastic, fresh mint powerhouse with plenty of backup fruit and one helluva tannic rhythm section. This was swinging. If the provenance is/was good, no rush to crush. Absolutely dynamite. 3.5.24. — 13 days ago
Not to be outdone, the 1989 Chave Hermitage Rouge showed more brambles than the ’88 along with other desiccated blue and black fruits. Dried flowers, beef, blood, leather and mushrooms. Every time I have the pleasure of drinking old Chave, I’m reminded that these wines have so much character and there is a reason they are so adored. Lovely with grilled lamb and Moroccan spices. Drink now through 2040. — a day ago
The 4th wine at the Louis Roederer dinner at the Downs Club on Friday night. A blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. Interestingly the Pinot vineyards are south facing and the Chardonnay vineyards are north facing. The Pinot asserts itself in the aroma with red fruits with yellow fruits from the Chardonnay. The palate incorporates these aromatics and is fresh, exhibiting power and energy. A great future here and already mouthwatering. — 23 days ago
