A nice premier cru that is dark red with some transparency. Cherry and cranberry on the palate. February 2026. — 4 months ago
Raisin tight enough; no character yet.
20 minutes later: Ooh light cherry cola! Had it with my weirdly chocolate tasting homemade soba. I guess seaweed, tsuru no moto, tamari, egg, sesame oil caramelize in the mouth and make this wine like a trip to 7-Eleven in 1986. Me likie. — 7 months ago
Juicy, medium to light body, earthy with a hint of cherry, paired well with a classic filet at the Tortoise Supper Club in Chicago. — 9 months ago
Medium Ruby with red fruit and floral aromas, from 40-year old vines, aged in concrete tanks for 9 months. On the palate flavors of red plum, cherry, rose petals and earthy mint. Vivid acidity, medium fine tannins, dry with a medium+ finish. Very good, bottle age will benefit! Organic. — 3 years ago
Blend of 62% Pinot Noir and rest Chardonnay. Pale salmon with aromas of berry fruits, yeasty and nutty notes. On the palate flavors of fresh cherry and raspberry, nice firm mousse, rapid bubbles, adding citrus & toasty apple flavors, crisp & refreshing, long ending with creamy lemon, smoke & yeasty mineral notes. Nice! Aged well! — 5 years ago

Leftovers from our 2nd Annual, “Bierock Bonaza: Let’s have some funza with Runza”.
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 2015 pours a deep ruby with a slightly purple tinge and a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of lightly stewed, spiced strawberry, ripe fig, and cherry lozenges, red flowers, green herbs, with a touch of leather, and a mix of organic and inorganic rocky earth. Just the faintest hint of mouse. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. The alcohol is also medium+. Delicious. Drink now through 2030.

Bright ruby color. Aromas of red and black berries, currants, black pepper and baking spices. Flavors of red and black cherry/currant/raspberry fruit, black licorice, and all those spices. Pleasantly earthy and nicely balanced. Mouth filling structure and soft/elegant tannins. Very reasonable. — 8 months ago
As close to perfect as possible. This 2016 vintage was dipped inn2024 with great pleasure. Beautiful fruits of cherry rounded by a nice tannin finish. The wine opened up and by the last sip the tannin complimented the cherry to a more oaky finish. Outstanding. On the occasion of welcoming Anna home! — a year ago
Had this at a tasting and bought several bottles, aged well, just opened last one. Aged for about 12 months in French oak barrels (15% new). Ruby, brown edges, with aromas of red and black stewed fruits and complex spice. On the palate, flavors of layered fruit, ripe black cherry and raspberry with cedar, tobacco, herbs and nutty notes. Full soft tannins, balanced acidity, long ending with fruit and earthy character. Outstanding! Worth the wait! — 4 years ago
Beyond beautiful! Immediately soft upon opening—had planned to decant for 4-6 hours but decided against. Open and had small taste with Maggie Harrison around noon. Decided to re-cork it and decanted at 4PM.
At noon I got (very unexpected) cranberry notes on the nose and the palate was considerably more gentle than expected.
After two hour decant: Soft (cat tongue), integrated tannins, pomegranate, black cherry begins to emerge. Herbs, smoky/meaty notes emerge

Earthy, cherry taste and both a bit bold and quite elegant. Time continues to serve this juice well — 8 months ago
Deep Ruby red color, blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a splash of Petite Sirah, with aromas of dark fruit, floral and oaky herbs. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry and sweet currants with cacao and espresso notes. Full-body, good balanced, fine tannins on a medium+ finish ending a bit spicy and oak character. Nice Value! — 9 months ago
The 2020 Fleurie Chapelle des Bois has a little reduction on the nose, but there is good concentration here with wild strawberry and red cherry. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, very pure and smooth. Touches of blood orange furnish the long and lively finish. Delicious. (Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2023) — 3 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
