Olivet Lane Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

Showing some age. A little display of oak, a tiny bit hot, great dark cherry fruits. An excellent experience overall.

Pinot Noir 2013

This is my first review of the 2013 vintage… When it arrived as a club distribution, the admonition was to let it rest for a couple years because it was a little too wound up… Well it has unwound and is staying in its lane quite nicely. You really do get the varietal signature and mouth feel… Not overly complex, but decidedly balanced. Two more of this vintage remain and I look forward to next year to see how it is at eight years old. Mostly bright red fruit with Ethan trim frame of rosey florality. Well done Nathaniel! — 5 months ago

State Lane Vineyard Proprietary Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2006

1.5 hour decant (some cloudy sediment). A majestic dark ruby red color with little bricking. On the nose: popping notes of earth, olive tapenade, creme de cassis, red berries, pencil shavings. Taste: A smooth, semi rich medium to full body wine with muted flavors of red plum, currant, leather, sour cherry, pepper......a gravely cedar medium plus finish and just a slight tannic kick. Enjoy, and drink em if you got em!! — 5 months ago

Lynch Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Excellent Calistoga cab. Little drier than many Napa cabs. Big, not too big. Paired with braised short rib. Nice. — 6 months ago

Estate Cuvée State Lane Vineyard Merlot Blend 2007

Dark fruits, plum, stewed fruits, ripe round tannins. Acidity is a bit low so a little flabby on the palate. Good but not great. — 2 years ago

Dusty Lane Sonoma Coast Syrah 2014

Blackouts are not “rolling” in Dallas. Power is just out forever. Opened this to make the evening a little better. I have power now, but I know it won’t last long. This wine is helping. A little funk on the nose. Herbal notes with a hint of spice on the finish. Don’t hold these for much longer. — 3 months ago

Definitely not rolling. In west Fort Worth, we went about 27hrs with no power. Got to almost 39 degrees in our house, even with a fire going! Staying with family now but seems as though power came back around 2:30PM. Stay warm!

@Shay A wow! I had about 4 hours of power in over 30 hours. It got really really cold in the house, but not that cold. Fireplace has helped. Today power has been a bit more frequent but doesn’t last long.

Domaine du Nozay

Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Fancy seeing this in Malaysia. This wine's a throwback to when I first got into wine back in Australia. I can clearly remember being recommended this Sancerre by our local bottle shop as a study of the appellation. In hindsight, I can see why. Excellent typicity in this 2018 iteration - on the nose, ripe gooseberry and melon fruit, flint, and a grassy asparagus-like note. The palate's less overt, showing more grapefruit and green apple. It finishes a little "sweet" for my liking, but that's tamed by crisp acidity and a subtle stony character. While it doesn't bode well with my preference these days, this drinks well as a nice trip down memory lane. — 10 months ago
