For the price, this presented strong performance, but lacked depth, complexity and power you experience with the delas les bessards. Cool black fruits and well judged oak create a very classy drinking experience. This was relatively tame and had a powerful yet weightless elegance in the palate. — a year ago
Relative to when I had this a year ago, the wine has developed slightly, perhaps gaining a little more density and body while shedding some of the crazy floral / violet aromas - while not heavy it’s certainly is medium body leaning toward full body. On the nose lovely casis and herbs (leaning toward the savory side but very well layered and fragrant). While this wine has no hard edges I believe it needs a few more years in bottle to really come together - it’s got great stuffing and just needs more time — a year ago
Full bodied but presents little primary fruit remaining - this in the tertiary stage and still quite good, but likely past its prime. Drink now if you’ve got some — a year ago
Wow - first wine by Giacomo conterno and I see why this producer is hailed as one of the legends of Piedmonte. This required a few hours of air in decanter and was singing - the nose was utterly amazing with layered florals. Full body and a seemless experience on the palate - this has the structure to continue evolving for a few more years in bottle but I see no reason to wait! — a year ago
From a pristine bottle - cork did its job, but was on the softer side and fell apart after extraction. This leans very herbal with notes of green pepper and green tobacco immediately perceptible on the nose. After that there are notes of earth. There was little to no perceptible fruit left at this stage, but it was a lovely, silk like experience and texture in the mouth with tertiary flavors such as leather, cedar, and some spice. This seemed like it was perhaps on the very early part of its downhill and was beginning to come apart, but should still have another few years left in the tank from properly stored bottles — a year ago
This is likely past prime and on the downhill - there is little fruit left, but some percetible cherry and lacks a great degree of tertiary development. The biggest problem I have with this wine is that it lacks mid and back palate development. While the acidity is there, it lacks the broader structure to be deemed a great wine. All of that said, I love this wine when it’s younger and it always punches well above its price point. — a year ago
Extremely impressive showing from this Barolo - fully integrated and clearly at peak plateau of drinking (likely to continue drinking well for another handful of years but wouldn’t wait) - this was very masculine in style presenting a full bodied palate but the tannins were soft and silky. Meaty, truffle, tobacco with dark dark fruits - certainly worth buying — a year ago
This bottle was in very very poor shape - bought at auction - clearly oxidized and presented acetic acid like qualities — a year ago
This feels a step behind the 2020 but is an excellent reminder of the value presented by great dry riesling. This wine is hard to find and rightly so….its a massive and ripe Riesling in a full body style. This wine to me was teetering the on the edge of over ripeness, but nonetheless had wonderful tropical and honeyed fruits. The typical minerality was present, but that took a back seat. My only critique is that it lacked a little focus and some of the linearity I’ve experienced with other vintages from this producer. Much much better on day 2 - this has a long life ahead. Equal to or greater in drinking experience than white burgundy 2-3x the price (albeit a different experience) — a year ago

The critics said it best “cornas at its finest” and I fully agree - this required a few hours in the decanter to open up and was showing even better on day 2 leading me to believe this could continue aging for another half decade before truly peaking — a year ago
