Old and dusty (especially on the finish). Lots of forest floor compost, hints of tart, wild blackberries. Pet a really old black Labrador. Like a really sweet old lab, that maybe smells a little musky. Just like Stella, the 14 year old Labrador (pictured). — 2 years ago

Part 3 of Columbia County weekend: the last leg of a great dinner, w ginger ice cream. At 7.5% abv it’s remarkable the archeological dig of flavors— from candied yam to gummy bears. The texture stands out-so caressing, friendly even, like a golden lab. I don’t drink enough Auslese, & at 20$, it’s even possible — 3 years ago

Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

2021 vintage. This was my favourite at the Boissenot lab primeur tasting (77 wines, but no Crus Classés), and now that it is on the market, it gives you an idea what to expect from a good wine in this difficult vintage. Attractive nose, very fresh, with cassis and flowers. In the mouth it doesn't have the weight of the great vintages, but it is an impeccably balanced, lighter wine, juicy and fresh, with more than decent length. Very modestly priced too, very good value and ready to drink immediately. A blend of 53% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. Abv. 13%. — 10 months ago

2014. I had a nice conversation about volatile acidity with my daughter after her first impression was “Nail polish remover. Like the acetone we used in chem lab this afternoon.” The VA was definitely a big part of the aroma, but I loved the wine paired Italian sausage and peppers! — 4 years ago
