Georges Lignier’s holdings in this jewel of a 1er Cru account for nearly half of the entire vineyard.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2021 “Clos des Ormes” pours a ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of fresh forest berries: strawberry, raspberry, freshly cut red flowers, some finely ground black pepper, dried green herbs and a kiss of fine, warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. What a lovely, rustic expression of Burgundy! This is the most soulful Georges Lignier I’ve had so far. The 2021 vintage may have played a part (I’m a fan of these cooler, harder vintages). Whatever, this is awesome and killer with rabbit sausage and lentils. Drink now (and take your time with it) or enjoy through 2046. — 2 days ago
