An unbelievably truthful, strange bottle of wine.
Nose is this crazy blend of cherries, sour cherries, library books. As it opens this psychotic crazy burgundy smell.
Palate has this odd little bit of spritz. Vibrantly deep cherries. Intense palate vivacity.
As this opens … this … silky, luscious cherry raspberry something or other that is great burgundy. Jesus. Omg.
Long clingy finish.

This crisp dry sparkler, made with Chardonnay, had pale lemon color with aromas of stone fruits and floral scents. On the palate flavors of apple and pear with hints of citrus. Medium+ finish ending with fruit and slight yeasty mineral notes. Good value. Drink now! — 3 years ago
Dégustation à l’aveugle de 5 Pinots. Une touche végétale, fruits rouges aussi, une bouche assez avenante, avec quand même du volume, très bon. Mon no 5. 90-91
Blind tasting of 5 Pinots. A touch of vegetal on the nose, red fruits and a palate that is generous, with some volume, very nice even if no 5. No 5 for me and the panel but a very good bottle nonetheless. — 3 years ago
Wow. JJ Girards’s high end white burgundies are the pretzels! Just an incredible nose of hazelnut, spices, minerals, green apple, melon, anise, some herbs and more. Just outrageously complex and deep. Gorgeous clear citrus like pink grapefruit and mineola oranges. A skoche of unreal engaging sweet wood. Just incredible nose that is so detailed and precise. 9.8 nose. Really compelling here. Palate is just as incredible. So spicey and complex with on point acidity and unreal sweet meyer lemon fruit. Round yet so intense and unreal purity and freshness with a finish that weaves and bobs along one’s palate. Unreal length and freshness. With air I am sure this will improve vastly offering more complexity and depth. But it’s hard to imagine as on pop and pour it is remarkable. Now with air the nose gets even more incredible and deep with unreal baking spices and hazelnuts that are so vivid one can’t believe there are real hazelnut and baking spices in the glass. It’s so layered and serene. This is a confident wine strutting its stuff. The palate is just so harmonious and also long and lingering and as it airs the structure becomes more apparent and the finish gets salty. Wow the purity and lemon drop affectations and the unreal tanginess is just awesome. This is one of my favorite sites and can compete with Grand Cru and this example shows why. — 5 months ago

Needed something a bit more predictable after that Overnoy. Step right up JJ Girard. Maddeningly consistent. Love this version of a great 1er Cru. Global warming is helping Beaune 1er Crus.
Nose is tight but has lovely spice, dark flowers and black cherries. This is such a serious 1er Cru. Wispy sour cherry, herbs. Super complex and opening by the minute. Fruit filling in big time. Sour cherry, dark cherries, early season cherries. Brambly now. So pretty and deep. Perfect hint of framing oak. Girard is so good. Palate is just gorgeous. Young but awesome. Showing some wood but huge sap, density and really fresh. Girard is always invigorating. Good concentration and really black fruited palate. Black cherries and they are so clear. Long palate staining finish. Persistent. So juicy and with such a serious structure. Plus that just maddeningly consistently delicious Girard fruit. — 3 years ago
