One of 2019’s favorite new acquaintances Tenuta di Carleone Il Guercia. Equally impressive today as its displaying a wonderful combination of playfulness, transparancy, gracefulness and intensity. Opening with a vibrant and nuanced red fruit profile followed by a perfumed and herb infused floral note with a salty and gravelly minerality in the back end. It’s developing in layers with the time in the glass reaching unexplored territories in each sniff.
The palate is an act of grace, a wonderful flow and an enticing texture
with very fine yet present tannins that is balancing the fresh acidity as they together carries the complex fruit profile throughout the gravelly encore.
An impressive act worthy standing ovations — 3 days ago
Light primitivo . Super fun, great with pizza or pasta, great value for money — 2 months ago
Juicy as the name states, but not a fruit bomb. Green twigs and pepper corn on the nose, lightly astringent with black tea and cherry on the palate. — 8 days ago
Stewed plums but with an astringency and tannic punch that actually makes this quite satisfying and interesting. The food pairing options here are endless. While I picked this up after tasting it at a tasting station at the liquor store, I think I'll look for this again in the future. Dark and majestic! — 9 days ago
Really smooth and silky Syrah from Tuscany, which represents the grape variety really well. There are some clove plum black fruit pepper cinnamon. It's quite obvious that this wine has some aging potential.
