Taken to Hawksmoor in NYC for our uncle’s 75th. Decanted in hotel for 7 hrs before dinner. Dark reddish amber edges with dark tawny color center. Opaque. Great aged Bordeaux nose. Notes of black fruit, tobacco and cigar, cassis, old desk wood, saddle leather, some anise, some barnyard and a little mint. Rich and silky in the mouth. Long finish. The bottle (mid shoulder) wasn’t in as good of condition as the one we had a few weeks ago, but the outcome was similar. Family and the Somm all loved it, as did I. — 3 years ago
I love old Pesquera and generally love the range from Joven to Gran Reserva. This reserva Especial wasn’t bad but it wasn’t quite what I was after. It had a taste that was beyond a pleasant anis and seemed more deep and jammy than the stuff I really like from Pesquera. Anyway, not really complaining but it wasn’t as ethereal as I was hoping it would be based on experiences back to the early-1980s, when I was a child. Had it at the Hawksmoor Knightsbridge with a ribeye, asparagus and way-too-buttery mushrooms. — 4 years ago
Medium ruby , medium wide ruby rim , youthful colour . Quite open and fruit forward with quite high toned cassis , grafite tinged blackberry , and an earthy , dusty character . On the palate quite round and generous but well balanced , sweet blackberry, blackcurrant fruit with the grippy grafite tannins and enough freshness . Reasonable length sweet cassis , with a grafite and herbal tinged finish . Drinking well now , though obviously youthful , will probably to continue to show well over the next 10 years or so. Taken to Hawksmoor in NYC for our uncle’s 75th. Decanted in hotel for 7 hrs before dinner. Light to medium gold color, heavy in the glass. At first the nose is muted with light citrus and white flower notes. Late in the evening after 10 hrs of air this finally blossomed into the Raveneau they is known and loved. Notes of citrus fruit, ocean breeze, kiwi, white stone, white clay and tan spice. Acidity finally came on too. Great wine but still too young. Needs 5-10 years of additional age to be in the ”go” zone. 94++ — 3 years ago

Medium pale straw . Lightly Smokey citrus with white flowers and some reductive stuck match character . On the palate quite intense and very well balanced with fresh acidity and good extract . Still quite young with citrus dominating , some light mineral hints in the background and a good herbal tinged finish . Very good now but can surely age well a further 5 years .
