Terre de Vertus 1er Cru Brut Nature Champagne Chardonnay 2016

David T
9.3

Nice soft mousse body, yellow peach, tropical melons, pineapple, some lemon meringue, lime zest, slightly bitter apple cider, whipped cream, hard chalkiness, alluvial limestone, saline, sea fossils, bread crust, yeastiness, yellow florals, racey acidity, nicely balanced & structured with a finish that lasts 90 seconds.

Needs a few more years in bottle.

Les Vergers Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2018

Not bad, but I’d take the 17’ Leflaive Bourgogne any day over this. I liked how complex the nose was, and that it was textural and quite mineral, but I just couldn’t stand how sweet-fruited and oily the profile was. Very clearly a warm vintage Burg. Then again, Amiot does make more generous Chardonnay’s. Not for me, but I’d recommend this over any butter ball to lovers of “smash-mouth” wines. — 2 months ago

Wine has aged well (2009 vintage). Smooth notes and smooth with bold flavors of cranberry. — 10 days ago

What a wonderful wine. Nose: lemon & ginger scone. Palate: lemon, tangerine, lemon pound cake, powdered sugar, papaya, mango pit. Happy 11 years! #thewinewasgood — 18 days ago

Terre de Vertus 1er Cru Brut Champagne Chardonnay 2012

Divisive. Some folks thought “strict” , “ not balanced”. I enjoy this style but imo requires food. Lots of citrus , stones and zest. Fruit mostly on the nose along with some nutty aromas. Clenched finish, maybe time fixes that? I don’t know.

I adore Larmandier-Bernier. Food and, really, time. 2012’s have acid for the long haul.
