light, on the simpler side but approachable and delicious. — 3 months ago
Some of us, being Nebbiolo supplicants, love Ghemme for its paradoxical meaty, bloody, yet light qualities. This has it in spades, on the edge of cherry cough syrup but never quite there. The woods, especially on the nose. This wine would benefit from a large glass.
It’s a bit of a sneaky, under the radar winery, hopefully for a bit still.
Lots of cherries, loam, dirt, blood, stoniness. Delicious. A ‘17 feels just about right. — 3 months ago
Oh yes, this one was really good. Cherry, cedar, tobacco . Strong and smooth at the same time. It is suggested to eat with red meat, however I had it with lobster served with garlic butter. Ohhhh, I had a moment of umani, the garlic butter gave a smooth buttery feeling to the wine. SAQ $39 — 2 months ago

The 2019 Etna Bianco Superiore Pietra Marina captivates. It’s perfumed and floral, with enriching notes of almond paste and confectionery spice that perfectly accentuate a smoky core of white peaches. There’s more lift on the palate, but it's a little backward, possessing wiry textures and an intense mineral core that adds depth to its citrus-inflected orchard fruits. Nervous acidity forces the mouth to water and maintains a dazzling freshness as inner florals resonate and a sour lime concentration settles in. The 2019 is just an infant today, compact yet complex, balanced and loaded with character. It will be a gorgeous Etna Bianco to follow over the next decade or more. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2024)

The 2022 Pinot Grigio opens with a minty flourish, blending crushed green apples with white smoke and ginger. Candied lime and spice complicate its inner sweetness, while green apple notes add contrast toward the close. The tense, medium-length finish ends with salt and sour green melon. $20.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2024) — 3 months ago

Rubis presque violet. — 25 days ago
