I love this wine. Dark and sinewy nose as it goes for this 1er Cru. Blackberry, blackberry flower, dark cherry, blueberry, almost smells like a N.Rhone Gamay/Syrah blend from Cornas. Wild. Amazing nose. 9.5 or 9.6. Loads of moss and wet earth. Really complex and compelling. Oh wow, what a palate. Like an orb. So round yet structured, sweet and deep. Blue and red fruits galore and such high quality fruit here. Best one ever. Sappy and fresh with such intensity and explosiveness but that hint of opulence and roundness is utterly compelling. A wow wine. Sick stuff. Can’t wait to see how this evolves. Dizzying complexity on the nose now. That wet/dry moss is so stunning. This is genius. After two hours superb spice on the nose. Awesome inner mouth aromas, dark fruit and energy for days. — 2 months ago
2022 vintage. A fave SLB plot/expression over the years and this is no exception. Silky as always from this producer. Light-medium body. The expected strawberry/raspberries rsvp early on with suggestions of rhubarb and dirt/earth on the finish. Showing really nicely now despite the youthful innocence. 03.26.25. — 2 months ago
Nose: the most beautiful smoke. Cherries. A gorgeous herbal aspect. Cherry flowers. More savory as it opens. So precise it’s utterly penetrating.
Palate: so bright and fresh and clean. The purest cherry juice. A mineral cherry stream. Changes every 15 minutes. Elegant licorice. Cherry silk. Wow.

2021 vintage. Lovely — 2 months ago
Big, brambly nose with lots of red cherries, mid season sour cherries, earth and mineral. Really clean and evocative. Palate is juicy and so precise. Very clean and a lovely mineral/fruit wash on the finish. Great depth, freshness and terrific concentration. Not elegant but this wine never is. It has such impact for little $$. Nice, ripe tannins and serious structure. This is always best at 5 years old. — 3 months ago

Such a classic Les Vergelesses nose. Brambly, bright and damson all at the same time with gorgeous earthen dampness. Big cherry, cranberry, cranberry bog and spice. Really compelling spice and so much depth. Palate is stunning. Gorgeous, tensile mid season and black cherry fruit with wonderful clarity and precision. Some wild mint on the nose now. Great concentration and density. Very sappy. Perfect balance and so pure. Finish is elegant with gorgeously ripe tannins. What a vintage 23 is at Girard. The nose gets some nice Twizzler action after some air and my goodness the fruit is just transcendent. After two hours the nose is gorgeous with moss, spice and wet earth. Juicy palate and just gorgeous fruit. Fresh and energetic. Wonderful. — 2 months ago

Another epic Fichots from Girard. Deep deep mid to late season cherry and glorious spice. Wow the fruit in 22 is so aromatically expressive at the moment. Just gorgeous. Stunning palate with deep deep fruit but also those fierce Fichot tannins. Juicy, silky and sweet but structured and epic. Wow the tannins. This needs mega air but this is a monumental Fichots. Tasting today and still a beast but has that absurd 22 fruit. I’d wait a decade at least. — 3 days ago
