Saint-Joseph Syrah 2019

2019 vintage. As rustic as ever. Blood. Earth. Plum. Stems. Heavy body. A step or two above a solid workhorse but not flighty. Tremendous punch. Could be wrong but think this producer only does Saint Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage and both are great QPR. 10.30.24. — 16 days ago

So overlooked and it’s maybe the most classic old school St Jo since Trollat. And way better.

@Lyle Fass Love this producer. Obscenely underpriced and that is not something I can say often enough.

Lovely tangy blue fruit. Cherry and sour plum with roses and graphite. Good stuff. Lean and pretty — 4 months ago

Monts Damnés Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Delectable Wine
9.3

The 2022 Monts Damnés is a wine whose qualities you might miss because its texture is so fine. It is calm, tender and elegant. It's not fruity but savory with a pure, clear, chalky style. A little tense at the moment, this wine could be approached but will benefit from another year in bottle - or many more. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, August 2024)

Chavignol Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Nice minerality, definitely herbal. Missing some of the weight I’ve come to love with Sancerre of this caliber. — 3 months ago

Montmains Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2020

This is a pretty wine. Light straw with thin edges in the glass. The aromatics are lovely beginning with a sense of grass and the outdoors. Honeydew melon is prevalent alongside a bit of oak and smoke. Lemon with a touch of lime for good measure.

Minerality for days here. A ton of personality and depth for such a young Chablis. Terrific structure and good bones for the future. The acidity isn’t overpowering but still present. The palate closely follows the nose with citrus and stone fruits. More lemon zest on the long finish. Delicious and approachable and still has miles to go.
