Nice but not as lush, farmy, and funky as previous vintages. Acids are prominent and lean toward Barbera. Tart raspberry and sour cherry, touch of cola, good minerals. More from the Astor Wines Piedmont sale. 05/06/23 — 2 years ago
Delicious. Decently pronounced but not overwhelming tannins, a very savory and slightly funky profile. Paired equally well with alligator sauce piquante and a sopresetta Neapolitan pizza. — 4 years ago
Oh yes…gimme all them funky cherries and all dat black licorice. There were also Ferrara Red Hots®️and a generous hit of black pepper. I simply adore Pegau; for all of its unapologetic character and authenticity. This 2015 brought the business tonight and was smashing with cassoulet, Toulouse sausage and duck confit. — 8 months ago
This is funk on funk on funk. I thought it was a fantastic bottle. Not a light Gamay by any stretch of the imagination. On the nose this reeks of hay and barnyard with a wet stone note. Fantastic tart red fruit on the pallet with a wonderful lingering finish. if you are not into funky natural wines this may not be the bottle for you. But given the style of the producer I felt this fell fantastically into the style of wine that Souhaut makes. — 5 years ago

Double decanted two nights before service. The 2006 pours a deep, slightly hazy garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with a mix of desiccated fruit and funky umami notes: bruised and desiccated strawberry, red rope licorice, nori, Cherry Dr. Pepper, cracked black pepper and leather. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is forever long and saline; it just hangs around forever. Initially, this came across as bit backward but it really gained power and character the more time it spent in the glass. Drink now with patience and through 2036. — 7 days ago
