Nose is musty. May be corked. God hates us all. Some yummy violet peeking out? As this opens more licorice peeks out.
As this opens the aromatics strengthen and the must recedes. Maybe I was wrong. “DAmnit Jim I’m a wine professional not a biochemist!”
Palate has great juicy delicious cherry fruit. Some licorice. Very grippy on the palate. Staining. Rich. More delicious than complex. A big bopper. Interested to taste less giant vintages. Like a more elegant st Joseph this year.
Almost chewy (the adjective not the star wars character).
Whatevs. Having it with steak and duck fat Cooked potatoes. So all good.
Perfectly fine to drink now.

Nose is fairly shy. Some granite, tart red berry, and green olive. Stylistically this is more on the lean and crisp end of the spectrum, a little thin on entry, but the finish fans out quite a bit and clings, with sandstoney minerality and savory flavors hanging on quite a bit. Needs food. — a day ago
The aroma is exquisitely defined and perfumed. The body has the togetherness and the structure shows dynamic tension. A virtuosic interpretation of the brilliant 2018 vintage. — 6 days ago

mountain of thunder indeed—in the zone and it would stay there for another decade (but not this bottle). The depth of flavor and cool menthol tame the wild layers of flavor. With a citrus center, it stays focused while providing a kaleidoscope of flavors. The texture is oh so soft as it lays on the palate and then just drives through into my brain. “Iron fist in a velvet glove” was used to describe claret but it works here. Grand cru in all but name, the finish may get me through the next two weeks of being dry. It just echoed. The term head spinning is apt. — 14 days ago
