Five Dots Pinot Gris 2019

Fantastic peachy color. Subtle nose of flowers and popcorn. Light overall with a little bite that won’t let you forget it’s there, patiently waiting. Balanced, lingering acid with a flavor of clementine peel. Got juicier over time. — 23 days ago

Second of five... and evening favorite. Beautiful color, dark fruit flavors, and spices combine to make a beautiful wine. — 10 days ago

Domaine Clarence Dillon

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Really enjoy this Saint Emilion. Lots of fruit, lots of body, oak and earthyness to match as well. Rich, tannic, with a decent finish. Very direct and straight forward kind wine; in an unassuming way. Happy Easter. PS Five year (+) aging potential. — 9 days ago

One Point Five Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

When Friday night starts right. Patio, Shake Shake, and a nice Cab. Deep dark color. Nice complexity. Expressive nose. Blue and black fruit, and a little cinnamon. Plush mouthfeel. Lengthy finish. No complaints here. — 18 days ago

Alfred Merkelbach

Erdener Treppchen Spätlese Riesling 2011

Vintage 2011 | The summum of balance. Unbelievable good Riesling. I usually think Merkelbach must be put away ten years, but I see I found this wine irresistible already five years ago. 😳 what a treat, butterscotch, smell ánd taste. | Paired with Blanquette de Veau and cheeses. Makes my day. — 6 days ago

Cacharel 12 Linajes

Crianza Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2014

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Fruity nose of blueberries, plums, cooked cherries, red currants, oak, tobacco, licorice, earth, cocoa, mocha, coffee, peppercorn, earth, spices and light pencil lead.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked strawberries, earth, chocolates, tobacco, oak, light vanilla, spices, peppercorn and leather.

Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a nice surprise. A very enjoyable Tempranillo from Ribera Del Duero in Spain. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy and tangy.

Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime. Tannins show up after 90 minutes.

This 7 year old shows nice complexity at this point. Drinking nicely now, and will be even better in the next five years.

I paired it with cheeses and fresh vegetables.

100% Tempranillo grapes were aged in French and American oak barrels for 12 months (60% new).

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Quintessa

Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

Wonderful. Second to the Togni that was opened on the same night. Massive but feminine at the same time. In five years this will be amazing. — 9 days ago

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2012

First of five...notably fruit forward wine. Strawberries and rhubarb most prominent. Tight flavors needs time to open. — 10 days ago

Chanin

Los Alamos Vineyard Pinot Noir

Third of five... and second favorite of the evening. Lots of deep fruits that were well-balanced with earthy spices and flavors. Beautiful complement to grilled lamb and eggplant. — 10 days ago
