Château d`issan

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Really nice with 3+ hours of air. Excited to try in a few years as it continues to balance out with time. Perfect pairing with burgers. Quite fruit forward at this point but with a real vein of fine minerality. Delicious. — 2 months ago

Champans Volnay Pinot Noir 2009

At Pressoir NYC burgh tasting - this 2009 from the magnum was best of the Volnays and best of the tasting overall - deep brooding structured fruit, stellar - and notably better than the 2008 — 8 months ago

Mastrojanni (Poderi Loreto e San Pio)

Vigna Schiena d' Asino Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2015

An absolutely incredible single vineyard Brunello from a landmark vintage. Dark ruby color with a slight brick rim. Aromas of forest floor, bramble fruit, tar and dried herbs. Flavors of black cherry, tobacco, black licorice and coffee. Long and luxurious finish and just enough velvety tannin to enhance and lengthen the experience. Medium-plus body and perfectly balanced acidity. Powerful, yet beautifully well structured. Still incredibly vibrant. Sangiovese at its finest! This wine has a personality all its own. Thanking Petey for making this incredible selection. Happy Birthday, Kase! — 3 months ago

Clos des Ducs Monopole Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2002

Twenty-five years as a stubborn tart, she has finally expressed on taste what the nose and ruby color suggested for much of her path. Pleasant 1er to enjoy for at least a decade. — 4 months ago

Château Bel Air-Marquis d'Aligre

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

It’s been a couple years since I last enjoyed the 1996 and based off this experience, it’s continuing to age gracefully.

Double decanted the night before. The wine pours a garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of cassis, kirsch, purple flowers, tobacco, dried herbs, green pepper, old wood and gravelly earthy. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is long and sanguine. So much soul, it could make Marvin Gaye blush. Drink now with patience (and a long decant) through 2041. Thanks for the assist
