Tight as a drum at open. Loosened to trampoline tension after 2 hours. Finally was loose after 4. Spicy and hefty. More inward. A sophisticated mix and quite good but as with most Leoville Las Cases it needs to sit longer for the next iteration. — 9 days ago
Ironically, I just enjoyed a bottle of this in London and fully agree with your assessment. I am looking forward adding to my cellar. I have ‘82, ‘89, ‘01, ‘05, and ‘16 and it’s obvious that ‘09 needs to be in the mix. Only a couple of years for this juice to step to the next level and maybe

Cork came out in 3 pieces, but no cork pieces left in bottle. Color is still medium-red, very faint browning on edges, massive cedar and cigar box aromatics, some pencil lead as well shows on palate, medium-weight, lovely balance, long, lingering finish, great older Bordeaux. Purchased at release for a song ($125/case) still have 5 left, this is one of my all-time favorite Pauillacs in the “non-1st, non-super 2d” category, amazing juice!! — 25 days ago

2018 vintage. First visit with this producer as it's rarely glimpsed in the Southern California market. Smoky, plummy nose. Medium body. Smooth, velveteen entry on the front palate that cruises the length of the performance until the fine-grained tannins at the conclusion. Super classy. Exactly zero speedbumps at this juncture. Refined enough to appeal to long-time BDX drinkers and inviting enough to welcome first-time BDX initiates. Showing beautifully now with very little to resolve. No personal history to draw on with this property but stylistically and regionally, feel this can easily go 10-12 years without effort/variation.
