Always love the earthy, woodsy, crushed berries, stems and all, bouquets. Always reminds me of being outside in a forest, cool air drifting through trees, the hope of a hidden stream through an unnamed bend in the path.
Deep and dark, rich and jammy. This is a rare treat like truffle pizza or watching a marathon of your favorite movie series (Rush Hour, Die Hard, Fast & The Furious, The Godfather, take your pick).
Cornucopia of fruits, but I really love the noir licorice and plum notes right at the end. Harmonize with spice and acidity and you’ve got a winner. Class and drinkability. — 11 days ago
The best village Gevrey, always punching well above its weight. Double decanted at 4pm to drink at 8pm. His 2012 has terrific concentration, intensity and complexity rarely seen in village wines. It shows red berries, exotic spices, minerals, lovely sous bois and gorgeous purity and texture. It finishes long with great lift and persistence. Fourrier can often be overshadowed by Rousseau, but they need to be in the same conversation. — 13 days ago
Super primary at this moment. On the nose: lingonberries, blackberries, anise, wet asphalt, garrigue and some deli meat. On the palate, black brambles...all of the blackberries, with a little black pepper and leather. There’s a lot of structure here. Super tannins; drying. Lovey acid. Finish lasts for minutes. Best yet to come. — 2 days ago
Takes for ever to open.
Steep and rustic at first, when open, it’s friendly and round.
But make no mistake, even once open, after the smooth soft entry, it morphs into a very animal, wild and steep experience. Not falling flap, more the opposite! Yum! — 14 days ago
Medium body, ripe cherries. Some tannins — 17 days ago
Boldly and marvelously fragrant, with ripe cherry, blackberries, almond paste, cinnamon stick, and hints of cloves, spicy mint, and warm tires on the nose. Dark cherry, juicy plum, raspberry on the palate with notes of milk chocolate giving way to sharp scratchy mint-tea tannins and a hint of bacon fat emerging with black peppercorns on a long finish. Very well done and interesting. Excellent value — 7 days ago
Hard to explain why it's so good, it just is. — a day ago
Great lunch wine! Fruity and easy drinking but still nice structure and acidity — 20 days ago
