La Fortune Côte Chalonnaise Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2014

Very delicious Pinot, but was expecting a little more complexity. Wonderful pairing with salmon. — a month ago

Graacher Himmelreich Auslese Riesling 1983

Shay A

My last of a three-pack. Consistent throughout, and a reminder each time to drink more German wines.

I wasn’t yet born when this wine was made, and that always makes a wine fun (even if the wine isn’t great). Out of my three, the cork stuck to this one more than the others. Gorgeous golden yellow in the decanter. Plenty of lychee, golden apple, apricot, honeyed stone fruits aromatically. A wine you’d be perfectly fine smelling over the course of an evening. 8.5ABV. Possesses the quality only aged Riesling can provide of a rich weightlessness. On the sweeter side for Auslese, but not overly so. Still sporting good acidity. Botrytis is easily detected, but it’s so well integrated to the profile of the wine. Not getting better, but hanging in there well (especially with Thai food/Oktoberfest food).

La Digoine Côte Chalonnaise Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2020

2022 fall. Digoine has become very hard to find here, so when I had the chance to try it for the first time In years (even at near-double what it once was) I figured I would give it a shot. Darker, deeper, more brooding and primary than de Villaine tends to be - good but too young for a wine this style and my palate. It’ll be interesting to see how other 2020 de Villaines would make me a little sad if the style changed to accompany the higher prices... — a month ago

Les Clous Aimé Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise Chardonnay 2018

2022/8. As I’ve noted lately, it feels like the de Villaine whites have added another level in the last several years - deeper, more complex and more satisfying, without sacrificing any joyousness and without trying to be Meursault or anything like that. — 5 months ago

Hyde De Villaine

Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

Pale lemon with aromas of stone and citrus fruits, white blossom and bright mineral scents. On the palate, it strikes a balance between richness and elegance, with a lush texture and abundant flavors of apple, pear and lemon/lime citrus, silky, long finish ending with fruit, floral and mineral character. Very nice will age well. — 5 months ago
