Dependable

Trimbach

Alsace Riesling 2021

Well - to get in the middle of MA decent Dry Riesling is hard. The cashier thought it ought to be always sweet. This must have been on the shelf for some time as the 24 is out. Classic and dependable and DRY. One can buy this blind. Lemon peel, hint of Kerosene. And apricot back palate. Good amount of acid with just a hint of depth indicating what this large well known widely distributed producer could do with more complex flavored grapes. — a month ago

Eases some of the pain of covid Christmas. Delightful year and dependable producer. — 3 years ago

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Artemis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Thank God. Dependable Stags Leap rescues wine #1. Creme de Mint, vanilla, licorice, melded together with nice grippy tannins that aren't bitter and uncomfortable. Solid.

Damaris Reserve Chardonnay 2022

The classic caramel/baking spice notes crop up on the nose but cut with fresh apple cider. The palate follows suit, bringing pear and citrus into the fold. The body is a medium-plus premise, and while the flavor profile verges on rich and the alcohol elevated, somehow, it all integrates into more than the sum of its parts. New bottle look, dependable, delicious taste! — 7 months ago

Casa Emma

Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2018

Dependable Chianti. Gravel, iodine, dark macerated cherry, vanilla in the nose. Great palate presence with lots of flavor intensity, balsamic savory notes predominating. Note super complex but very satisfying. — 3 years ago

Dependable is right. Love Casa Emma. Just swooped up a case of the 2015 😬

Bogle Family Vineyards

California Petite Sirah 2017

Affordable, dependable, easy to find. What’s not to like? Reminds me of the old Italian/American brands from the North Coast and Central Valley from the 1970s, cheap, good value, but this has better fruit. Purple-red, highly extracted pigment. Jammy and minty notes in nose with a hint of funk. Raspberry, cherry and spearmint flavors in mouth, tart berry-ish finish on initial pour. Caught somewhere with a limited selection of wines? This will save the rest of your day. Tannins emerge after 45 minutes, fruit flavors meld after 60. — 4 years ago

Consistent and dependable every vintage. Great with a pot of beans & rice on a cold, gloomy November night. Pure & approachable red berries & mild smoky spice. — 4 years ago
