2016. We really liked the way the oak rounded out this wine when compared to the slightly more tart Barbera d’Asti from the same producer that was poured as part of my daughter’s pairing. Paired with the Tajarin dalla forma finished in a wheel of gran kinara cheese. — 2 years ago
Flight #1 of our 1997 Retrospective. Presented single-blind; no formal notes. On the nose, this shared similar characteristics to wine #3. The most striking of which was a powerful note of finely ground cumin on the nose. Fruit is mostly desiccated at this point; the structure keeping everything together, but just. I called this to be “Rubicon”. While clearly in the sunset of its life, this showed slightly less energy than the Dalla Valle but no less charm. Drink now.

We don’t drink a lot of California wines here so when we do, we are looking for something more lush and smooth than what we get from France and Italy. This hits that spot pretty well. It is liquid velvet to me — 6 months ago

1/2 hour decant(lots of fine/cloudy sediment). A breathtaking dark magenta color with some bricking. On the nose: Enchanting notes of dark plum, cassis, cedar, herbaceous, eucalyptus, musky, smoke. Taste: silky, savory, creamy, well built classic Napa cab with a little dark plum, graphite, cedar, crushed stone, earth, green bell pepper, and a nice medium plus smokey cocoa tobacco finish. YUM! Sure, on the downside with fading fruit, but still a really enjoyable aged Napa cab. — 19 days ago
