2006 vintage. Lean and mean. Decanted and tasted after 1.5 hrs. Not too much sed. Nice little sprinkling of cocoa powder in a feminine nose but, otherwise, all business and very transactional. Difficult to love and hard to understand with this effort being pretty linear vs what we've come to know/expect/love from this property. Plenty of concentration but lacking that extra oomph of finishing depth and seems like it has topped out/not improving. 9.23.23. — 7 months ago
2017: Outstanding producer making another great wine from a tough hot vintage. Even this young there is such balance between primary and secondary flavors with impressive concentration. This is as seamless as Sangiovese gets - cherry fruit, acid, minerals and leather in such a smooth package - and will develop even more over time. $55 on sale, $70+ elsewhere. — 9 months ago
1997 vintage. Decanted and tasted immediately, after 30 mins and after 2 hours. Threw a little sed but not much. Cinnamon, straw, rhubarb and strawberry on the nose. Light-medium body. Good focus and concentration throughout the tasting gauntlet; finishing with a couplet of dust and earth. Not improving but likely to hold the line for an additional 3-4 years. Love isn't always on time. No. No. No. 10.22.23. — 6 months ago
The 2013 Vieux-Château-Certan has one of the most attractive aromatics amongst the Pomerol intake, red fruit and briary, light floral scents, air and demonstrating more delineation than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, more fruit concentration than the preceding La Fleur-Pétrus, with more energy on the finish that exerts a light grip. One not to overlook. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year On tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2023)

This wine is absolutely stunning on hour 2+ so that’s where my notes will reflect. Just wish it showed this way longer! After a lengthy decant 2012 Reynard finally comes alive to flaunt explosive, layered and distinctive Allemand aromatics of cassis, violets, olive and crushed stones. The palate has such concentration, depth and fruit intensity that’s seamlessly balanced with its layered minerality. Finish just keeps on going. Love these wines so much. — a year ago
With a table full of giants , for many this was the WOTD. Text book Rayas on the nose; strawberry, cherry, spices and kirsch.
This is a wine that makes love to your palate. Teasing and caressing your mouth with harmonious waves of elegant and balanced fruit. A great Rayas in a poor vintage for CDP. However for me the partner in life is the 2005 , which has complexity and concentration that puts that one in the Hall of Fame along with ‘78, ‘90 & ‘95 — 6 months ago
Popped and poured; no formal notes. This is my first time trying the 3.14 by Foillard and I was fortunate to enjoy not only one but two separate vintages poured alongside one another. For those who may not be familiar, 3.14 or “Pi” is a rare bottling of Foillard’s oldest vines from Côte du Puy; many of the vines are over 100 years old. On this occasion, both bottles were remarkably similar. The 2009 showed a bit more finesse while the 2010 showed a touch more structure. Both had remarkable depth, concentration and balance. One of those a-ha wines that show how great Beaujolais can be. Fabulously structured, both of these wines have very long lives ahead of them as they are still developing adolescents. That being said, they are enjoyable now and should continue to wow through 2040 and live well beyond. — 8 months ago
1990 vintage. Finally...tasted a bottle that confirmed both the excellence of this particular vintage and this particular producer. Was 0 for 10 prior to this with a few 9.0's, 9.1's and a 9.2 being the highest score. Still much more sleek than the '86, '88 or '89 vintages and currently pretty close stylistically to the linear '96 vintage. Soft yet intriguing nose. Light-medium body. Better than good concentration mid-palate and through a 30-second finish. Some of that beguiling cocoa powder and blueberry feminity confirming a beautiful effort. 4.22.23 — a year ago

1999 Opus- this 25 year old Napa wine was superb. The longer the decanting the more flavorful it became. Spicy at first sip with bursts of flavor from dark berries, leathery tannins, currant, earth and strong blackberry. Gains intensity and shows its depth and concentration on the finish, which is long and detailed. — 4 months ago
