The 6th and final Grand Cru from Vosne Romanee and equal best on my score sheet but from the group consensus the best. Arguably the best of all 34 Grand Crus from 2013 tasted on the day. Opulent aromatic plummy nose with violets to the max. An intoxicating nose as one Burgundy nut at the tasting said went past mere aromatics and worked its way into your brain. An unforgettable experience which was more than just wine. Absolutely stunning- probably should have given it 99 points.

The most boring and disjointed young la Tache I've experienced. Weird green tannins, garbage short finish. I hope it resolves, tbd.

2013 vintage. Both excellent fill and cork. Decanted with infinitesimal sed. Slightly silvery color. Tasted after 1.5 and 2.5 hours open. Medium body. Nose slightly reticent during both tastes. Black tea and eucalyptus prominent first go round with both those still present but minimized second pass. Sprinkle in some cracked black pepper and white sage for round two and we have a winner. Finish lasted over a minute and the concentration was as expected given the decent street cred. No rush to crush but open waay early/decant this if enjoying in the next handful of years. 10.24.24.

2013 vintage. From Jay. Domaine de la Romanee Conti La Tache 2013 - Quick Note/Initial Thoughts: Lovely light ruby colour - really has sparkle. Strong presence of red fruits on the nose together with forest floor and brown spice - This is very special on the nose with fabulous balance between intensity and concentration. Across the palate the wine displays the power one always associates with La Tache but it is somewhat reigned in at this stage, however, the undercurrents are there and will certainly express themselves in time. Unlike the Richebourg that is playing its cards closer to its chest at the moment, this wine is clearly destines to be profound. 97/100. Drink 2028 to 2045.
