Montepepe riserva speciale
Nose is great out of the gate. Almost rougeardish so elegant. Floral. As it opens very elegant. The vegetal aspects Recede and it the floral components advance to the fore. Lilacs. Raspberry flowers. Like a melange of medium dark flowers. Big lilacs.
Palate is very fresh. Delicious fruit. Such sweet fruit. This has an elegant, regal aspect to it. As it opens more floral bouquet extract. Lilacs. Sweet flowers. Awesome. Fruit is there but an element not the driver.
Great out of the gate. — 3 days ago
PnP. Ready to go. Quite dark in color. Nice Sangiovese bite. Still tart and fairly tannic. Initial attack seems a bit thin, but from the mid palate on this builds in power. Long finish. I prefer the normale CC, CCR and Rancia to this bottling. Earthy. — 7 days ago
2019 vintage. Beautiful nose, delicate vermentino. It’s floral w chestnut flowers, honeysuckle, green apple, lime zest. Clean, bright, touch of saline. — 10 days ago
Angelo Gaja’s venture - Ca'Marcanda. Blend of 60% Cab Franc, 30% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, barrel aged for 12 mos. A big, very rich Gaja style wine. Deep red with dark berry fruits and earthy leathery spice notes. On the palate blackberry and black cherry flavors, smooth with integrated spice, mint and tobacco, screaming acidity. Fine tannins, great balance, long, drinks well ending with mineral spice character. Very nice. — 3 days ago
Is there a better Brunello? Every time I drink a Soldera I am blown away with its perfumed nose, elegant feel & complex notes. The 09 is still youthful but very approachable showing notes of red cherry, strawberry with leather, spice box, balsamic, licorice & rose petal. — 5 days ago
Super crispy and refreshing for a nice summer night 70F — 22 days ago
Musty lean dusted orange wine with a funk that may be too obscure for some but definitely just right for me. Mushroom and petrol and exotic flowers blend together with burnt orange vibes to make for a bitchin' orange vino from Italia. — a month ago
OMG... Sorry it's my first time...
Visually, this presents as a few years older with a pink to red brick rim. On the nose, the open releases red cherry... With time it mellows to black cherry... If you could elegantly bottle Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia it would start you on the path of creating this wine. The blanket of milk chocolate is like a King's robe. There is a vague hint of baking spices up front. Custardy throughout. Tannins are on on-guard and alert waiting ready, willing, and able to withstand the darkness of the caverns until brighter days. Probably my favorite bottle to date.
