Bright reddish tawny color, translucent. Fruit forward nose. Has a sweetness to it. Notes of dark fruit, spice, dark earth. Not overly fruity in the mouth - a bit dry even. I guess 88 Faiveley Griotte or similar Chambertin. Got the 88 right. With air over the evening, this developed more DRC like notes including roses and salt, Asian spice, etc. — 3 years ago
The Château Brûlesécaille 2016 is comprised of 55% Merlot and a little under 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, with Cabernet Franc and Malbec making up the balance. In the glass, the wine has a glistening dark royal purple color, almost opaque at the center, with flashes of magenta just at the edge. The classic Right Bank nose unfurls gradually with aromas of sun-warmed black raspberries, griotte cherries, and sweet white tobacco, along with fleeting suggestions of eucalyptus and exotic spices as the wine evolves in the glass. On entry, the wine is meaty and succulent, building to a burly, lingering, rich mid-palate, loaded with a cornucopia of black and red fruit flavors that echo the nose; lightly seasoned with pine needles, toasted coconut, and baker’s chocolate – all framed in sinuous, assertive, ripe fine-grained tannins. Almost California-like in concentration and texture, with dusty minerality and fresh Right Bank acidity that carries the flavors through a long, elegant finish. Always a pleasure to taste the wines of JP Brun. This purple-colored Moulin-à-Vent delivers magnificent airy notes of undergrowth, ash, accompanied by a floral burst of dry roses / peonies; Morello cherry, blackberries. The mouth is very fine. silky tannins testify to a great mastery of winemaking. 2017 vintage begins to « pinote » wonderfully and will win again with a few years in the cellar (for those who enjoy Burdundy style). Reference!
— 6 years ago

Ruby dress. Discreet nose, red fruits, griotte, fig, spicy, smoke, charcoal, tobacco. Half-deep bodied. Melted tannins. The bouquet is fine, but the acidity is average, it's to be drunk now. Needs at least one hour of aeration to deliver. Not the lushest Brunello I've drunk (vintage effect?) But it's elegant.
Robe rubis profonde. Nez discret, fruits rouges, griotte, figue, épicé, fumée, charbon, tabac. Bouche demi-corsée, profonde. Tanins fondus. — 3 years ago
Third 90 Ponsot bottle served blind. This is bright tawny and translucent. When compared to the CSD served before it, this is more masculine with a dark cherry nose that is tight for the first 4-5 hours. By the time it’s served, though, it’s opened up and comes on as a rich and very powerful glass of juice. In addition to the regular notes of bing cherry, dark earth and rhubarb, this adds some mocha and a little cherry cola as well. Has a Rousseau-like precision in its delivery. From where it started to where it ended ~9 hours after opening, this evolved and improved the most. Great experience! (Bday 8 of 12) — 5 years ago
Jean-Paul Brun continues to deliver high quality wines to us. Here a fleshy yet crunchy Morgon (morello cherry) drunk on New Year's Eve and appreciated by all the guests.
— 6 years ago
“In the glass, the wine has a glistening, dark royal purple color, almost black in the center, with flashes of magenta just at the edge. The classic Right Bank nose unfurls gradually with aromas of sun-warmed black raspberries, griotte cherries, and sweet white tobacco moving in and out of the foreground, sometimes alternating with Dutch cocoa, eucalyptus, and vanilla as the wine evolves in the glass.
On entry, the wine is luscious and succulent, building to a rich, juicy mid-palate, with a cornucopia of black and red fruit flavors that echo the nose, all lightly seasoned with toasted coconut, baker’s chocolate, and red berry acidity, and the long, elegant finish is punctuated with sinuous, fine-grained, dusty tannins. — 6 years ago
Beautiful purple shinny dress. A lively and concentrated wine, with freshness, and the racy charms of gamay in Beaujolais: Notes of cherry, strawberry. Crunch and a great potential for evolution.
Belle robe brillante violine. — 4 years ago

Beaujolais pleasure with the intensity usually found on Saint-Amour. Notes of sour cherry red fruits, rose, peony, and a certain concentration that will appeal to those who like more structured wines. It is nonetheless a generous wine with immediate pleasure. Very / too easy to drink
Tasted blind. Dark murky red color. Notes of cherries... black cherries, tart cherries, lotsa cherries. Some cranberries and a little herbalness too. Masculine and brooding in the mouth. Seems really big, with tannins still present and lots of acidity. I guessed 95 Dugat Griotte. This needs another decade or two of slumber to develop more. Brought by a friend who said this was the first bottle he pulled from a case he bought on release. I hope to remain his friend. — 6 years ago
