Clos Pegase

Mitsuko's Vineyard Estate Bottled Chardonnay 2017

Had this about a year ago. The Clos Pegase label features Pegasus, painted circa 1890 by the French artist Redon. Pale lemon with aromas of fresh fruit and floral scents. On the palate apple and melon flavors, creamy with pronounced oak and citrus notes. Medium finish, good balance ending with fruit and oak character. Aged well from a year ago. Good value! — 4 years ago

Mount Veeder Mondeuse

A Syrah-like Mondeuse. Aromatic, purplely (yes, purplely) with ripe fruit, though it’s the texture that’s earning it high marks. Someone on an earlier thread described it as “velour” (not in the matching-juicy-sweatsuit-circa-2004-tacky way, but in a blanket you want to wrap yourself in at the end of a satisfying day sort of way). A solid wine with which to toast to the happy occasion of having an old New York friend in town. Can’t remember the vintage. Matt? — 5 years ago

Château de la Louvière

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

Nice 👍🏼
Dark Web info

Château La Louvière has many fascinating facets. The sumptuous architecture of the château building dates from the late 18th century, but winegrowing here goes back more than 700 years. The first vines were planted circa 1310, although modern winemaking dates from the 17th century and was handed down by able monks from the Carthusian monastery in Bordeaux, who had acquired considerable talent as viticulturists and winemakers. The people who produce the wine in the 21st century have inherited these time-honoured methods, adding just the right amount of innovation and modernity to make the utmost of the outstanding terroir. La Louvière's red wine has a dark colour and an elegant bouquet with delicate hints of oak...

9.7

Ethereal (circa 1510): of the highest regions of the atmosphere; (from 1590s) an extended sense of light or air. In a boxing match, this featherweight Veyder-Malberg will light you up. In the mountains, it’s the stone you sick and the air you breathe at the solitude of 11,000 feet. — 4 years ago

Try this with a vintage album, such as Chicago Transit Authority circa 1969. Carries a bouquet of angry leftist rebellion with just a hint of “the world is watching”. Damn good wine. — a year ago

Château Clos L'Eglise

Pomerol Merlot - Cabernet Franc Blend 2009

I have a history with this wine as it was an early love for me circa 1999 off a wine list at Aureole (the original Aureole). In haven’t had it in almost as many years and so a I grabbed a few bottles of 09. I don’t drink a lot of Bordeaux anymore but this seems to display more earth and less fruity to me than I expected. Bold alcohol content. Still showing some sharp edges. I like this wine but my 25 year old self had a very different palate. — 5 years ago
