Viña San Román Toro Tempranillo 2015

The 2015 Bodegas San Roman Toro is another sensational release from this storied property in the Toro region. Toro saw very high heat spikes in 2015 so it is not surprising to see this massive wine weighing in at 14.5% alcohol. Needing a one hour hour decant, after some air this beautiful wine slowly unveils gorgeous aromatic range from black tea and Asian spices that mingle with notes of milk chocolate covered red cherry and tobacco leaf that are all marvelously woven together in the glass. The texture is soft and sumptuous, giving this wine a hedonistic edge. Suggestions of black forest cake and sweet pipe tobacco fill the palate, deftly mingling with minerals and peat moss tones. This finishes exceedingly long with dark fruits and minerals. While this is a delight to savor in its youth, the 2015 San Roman has both the acidity and stuffing to cellar well for the next twenty years. Drink 2020-2035- 94 — 7 days ago

Sotillo de la Ribera del Duero Tempranillo Blend 2015

Silky smooth vino - concentrated and spicy with rustic, dusty tannins. I can smell, taste and sense the #riberadelduero with this one — 4 days ago

Bodegas Reina de Castilla

Rueda Verdejo 2015

Bright pale greenish yellow color with intense aromas of papaya and passion fruit with herbal notes of fennel and sage; as well as a bit of beeswax. In the mouth is super fresh high acidity, that begins with tropical fruit and ends with a medium long herbal and mineral finish. 13.5% alcohol. Everything I want a Verdejo to be! — 12 days ago

Toro Cermeño Rosado 2017

This Rosado is a vibrant and deep salmon fuchsia. The nose is one of the most earthy I’ve ever experienced in a rosé, yielding an almost leathery soil-encrusted watermelon. The palate: yikes! Am I still drinking rosé or did someone slip a big red in my glass!? Earthen, dark red fruit is ushered in by firm, mouthwatering acidity and led out on a lengthy black raspberry finish. But it’s the earth that rules here. Not your grandmother’s rosé, and definitely not for the Real Housewives or Vanderpump set. No, this Angel shouts. Serve with hearty summer fare, maybe even in place of lighter reds. Drink now, of course, but save one for five years on. Just to see what it’s like. — 22 days ago
