The Monastery where Bubbly production all began around 500 years ago. Primarily Mauzac with small amounts of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc blended in. Medium gold color. Aromas of orchard and citrus fruit with hints of white flowers and raw nuts. Flavors of juicy green apples and pears, granite dust and lemon zest. Slight vegetal note on the long palate cleansing finish. Plenty of bubbles but not in a steady stream. Creamy mousse that does dissipate rather quickly. Medium body and texture. Quite lively! vintage 2022 | Finally! Le Puy has been on my bucketlist for years. Icon of nature wines. Winemaking with little or non interventions. Right bank Bordeaux. It is a wonderful wine, 22 is drinking fine now. Cassis, leather, clove and laurel. Warmth. Fine structure. It made my dinner with steak frites. At restaurant Amsterdam in Amsterdam. — 4 months ago

Second wine of classed growth Grand-Puy Ducasse. Blend 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, has Merlot that did not make the cut for the top wine. Deep Ruby red color, with aromas of ripe dark fruits, spice and herbs. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and cinnamon spice. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, smoky spice and earthy mineral character. Good now! — 6 months ago

Though it’s very difficult for me to find a reasonably-priced Bordeaux I actually like, this is one. Bright nose shows dark cherry, cedar shavings, gravel, and a deep woodsy scent. Good cherry-centric fruit, loads of acidity, and a very bright mouthfeel. The acids feel almost like the bright, accentuated acids I associate with Paso Robles limestone soil. Not particularly long or complex in the mouth, but resonates more on the *fun* scale. — 5 years ago

Summery feeling Blanquette built on 90% Mauzac, 10% Chenin Blanc from 25 year old vines in Calce (Roussillon). There isnt an enormous amount of depth here, but the flavors are excellent. Honeycrisp apples, honeysuckle, freshly mown grass. Simultaneously dry and creamy. — 3 years ago
