Fantastic wine. Needs another 3-5 years in the cellar to mellow out. After 3 hours in the glass we saw the future of this wine and it is awesome. Fruit forward, big tannins that should mellow over time. Dark fruits with Cos ‘d Estournel led pencil, a little pepper and blackberry. Mike Smith knows how to coach perfection out of this vineyard. I will hunt down more bottles of this great wine. Give it a little time or decant many hours in advance of drinking. — 5 years ago

nose is a little quiet. starts like baked apple shifting to lean, crisp granny smith. medium + acid. bio-d, native yeast, unfined/unfiltered. said to all come from villages level Meursault. killer value. minimal sulfur added at bottling. — 5 years ago
Trying this next to the ‘11 Marcassin was quite interesting. This was borderline reductive in profile. More Chablis like than typical Cali chard. At 9yrs though, the bright fruit has darkened a bit...golden pear, kumquat, sea spray aromatics. Tart on the palate with oyster shell and bruised Granny Smith apple. — 7 years ago
Happy #InternationalChardonnayDay everyone. Second wine after the Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is a delicious bottling from South Africa made by Hamilton Russel Vineyards. Medium pale yellow. Rich and layered nose with notes of honeysuckle, peaches, pineapple and light spices. Medium acidity (6.5/10) and medium bodied. Crisp lemon zest on the palate with granny smith apples, stone fruits and white flowers. Long finish. Drink till 2022. — 7 years ago
