Enjoying wine in MN
Can still get the dusty strawberries, cherry, and floral notes on the nose I associate with Spring Mountain and memories of this vintage. There is also leather, earth, and a little forest floor now. Mouthfeel is supple. Cherry, leather, and chocolate. Finish is good. Tannins held up well. There’s a little funk at the end that tells me this is a little past prime. Drink now. I have two bottles left. Come over and give me an excuse to open. — 14 days ago
This is great wine. The 2010 MT, odd year, is one of my favorite wines of the past 5 years and I was hoping for a similar experience from an epic vintage. The 2013 had everything, nose, purity of fruit, balance, finish... it was textbook, but didn’t have a knockout... something. I don’t know how to say it better. I loved drinking it, but there wasn’t something that took this wine over the top. My guess is that it needs a little time to develop. A little tight yet perhaps. I suggest letting this lie for a bit. — 22 days ago
Don’t understand the hate! 😳 😉 Garnet color. Nose is leather and black cherries. Medium body, tart cherry, chocolate, black pepper and smoke. Pleasant smooth tannins with red currant on the finish. If loving big Napa cabs is wrong, I don’t want to be right! — 5 days ago
2014 Wayside. I’ve designated Archie’s Wayside on this in the past. Requesting Delectable add this. It’s great. Daddy daycare night with this makes it a joy! Teething sucks. 95+? It’s seamless, lively, bright, finish lasts forever. If I had more of this, I’d sign up for DD duty more often. — 16 days ago
This is outstanding for $37. Still a bit tight of course. I suggest grabbing a few bottles and hiding for 5 or 20 years.
It’s big. Nose is big dark fruit, pepper, and oak. Similarly big on the pallet. Lots of black fruit and tannins. The end sneaks in a little delicate currant. Great for a Tuesday night if you have some spicy sausage. — 24 days ago
