Les Parcelles Bouzy Grand Cru Champagne Blend

David T

Put away Christmas decorations since not fun. Thinking about some good Champagne helps one get through it.

So, it’s Pizza My Heart pizza and Pierre. I’ll take it.

Previous notes will stick. Tonight though, expressing excellent mousse, nougat, white spices & lively acidity.

This will remain in my rotation at $39.99 a bottle. Very good and over-delivers that price point by a lot. It is more reductive than oxidative and fits right into my wheelhouse limit on oxidative characteristics.

Hope everyone is having a great start to 2021! Cheers! 🍾🥂

Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

I thoroughly enjoyed this wine, from first sip, to a glass the following day, it was packed with fruit and had a smooth creamy finish. On the palate you're getting jammy fruit, like black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, flowery violets, and perfect acidity balanced with a chocolate finish. When paired with a steak it took on more earth and meat tones, cut some of the acidity and showed its tannins. I actually preferred it on its own :) This is a really great Cab from Paso Robles! — a month ago

The wine is old, still a very good nose but the life has disappeared. — 10 days ago

1978 Bruno Giacosa Riserva Especial Barolo. Needed a good 1.5 hour decant before it started showing. Got better at 2 hours. Sweetness upfront, strong acidity at finish. — 10 days ago

Les Vaudenelles Marsannay Pinot Noir 2015

Pop and pour. Perfume, violets, wild strawberry, sweet pomegranate, rose hips, soft vanilla. On the palate: fantastic acidity...nice body but so streamlined, blood orange. pomegranate, excellent density, and soft tannin on the finish. Perfect for our mood. — 16 hours ago

Rabajà Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2003

Another holiday pickup, just walking through a nice village in piedmont. Liked the label and knew of the winemaker. After 17 years the wine is still ruby red, vibrant in the nose with cherries, light flowery, leather, tar. Still enough tanine to last a few more years. A bit sweetish, with licquorish. Impressive wine. — 17 days ago

Domaine Bruno Clair

Clos de Bèze Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2011

I was tasting with Bruno Clair a few years ago, and we were talking about a people who will remain unnamed...and Bruno said: "Ils n'ont aucun plaisir dans la vie"...we agreed. This wine is the cure to that...pure pleasure without being over the top. On the nose: black pepper, game bird, cocoa powder, cinnamon and nutmeg...this is an intoxicating perfume. On the palate: fantastic acidity, sultry and seductive, soft cocoa powder, black raspberry and pomegranate molasses, black pepper...savory and sweet at the same time. With more time, soft clove appears. Soft tannin on the long finish. Utterly spectacular, and disappeared so quickly. — 17 days ago

Even his Savigny provided ample pleasure, so he’s doing it right. Cheers and happy new year.
