Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo 2005

This wine is medium garnet in color.

On the nose & palate are deeply concentrated notes of dried fig, prune, plum, blackcurrant, black cherry, juicy pomegranate, wild strawberry preserves, black licorice, anise, fennel, clove, cardamom, acrylic, balsamic, violet, rose, potpourri, forest floor, potting soil, black tea, & crushed gravel…

This wine has high acidity & tannins, which are fine & integrated with the deeply concentrated aromas & flavors.

The finish lingers. This wine is excellent and holding up beautifully with runway ahead of it still.

@Dave Clinton Nebbiolo is one of our absolute favorite grapes — as a Barolo, Barbaresco, Langhe, Valtellina… we love it all. And this wine was firing on all cylinders. So beautiful, brooding (dark fruit, spice), & layered. Yum! I’ll bet your Frenchies were delicious, too!!!!! Cheers, Dave! 🍷

A Barolo in all but name (“No Name”). A beautiful expression of Nebbiolo. — 6 months ago

Borgognot Barolo Nebbiolo

Excellent value for an under $30 entry level Barolo via WTSO. Approachable on opening but better with an hour of slow ox. Held up well day 2. Medium bodied. Dark fruit/spice on nose. Well balanced with juicy acidity and soft tannins. More fruity than earthy with dark cherry strawberry tobacco leather and topsoil. Nutmeg and clove spice. Soft lingering finish where tannins become dominant. Overall a complex experience- but probably better to drink while it’s young. — 4 hours ago

Cannubi Boschis Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

Light ruby color with a noticeable brick rim. Aromas and flavors of dried cherries and strawberries, dried rose petals, asphalt, strong coffee, orange zest, vanilla and leather. Very spicy and earthy on the medium-plus finish. Tannins have mellowed to a velvety softness. Relatively light bodied. May have just passed its peak. Clearly shows how aging can affect a wine. — 3 months ago

Antichi Vigneti Propri Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo 1967

Opened just prior to service and poured into a decanter. This is the second time I have had the opportunity to enjoy the 1967 Riserva although, the previous bottle was a more recent library release from the Borgogno cellars. This was a period release and yet, the experience was similar.

The 1967 Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core moving towards a slightly orange rim. Medium viscosity with no staining of the tears and some slight signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous but showing much more power than the ‘67 Abbazia SS Annunziata we drank on the same evening. Again, there is a lovely mix of ripe and desiccated red and dark fruits with forest floor, porcini, dried roses, tar, some tobacco, dried herbs, dusty earth and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is dry; medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long a savory. My previous notes suggested to drink now and while I still hold fast to that statement, twice in the span of 18mos with two separate bottlings encourages me to be a bit more bullish and suggest this has many years, perhaps decades left in the tank.

Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Opened too young; lovely and exceptionally made wine. Brickish red/brown. I let decant for a loooong time. Lots of cranberry and red fruit, some herbs, clay, faint cedar and tobacco. The acidity was med-high, but the tannins really softened out with aeration. I'd say this is still developing flavors and will be 95+ in a decade. — 2 months ago

Liste Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Ruby/ brick in color with medium intensity.

Beautiful nose of flowers, raspberries, earth, light herbs, light wood and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with mild complexity and a harsh mouthfeel.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This young Single Vineyard Barolo feels big and robust, but looks lighter than it feels. Very tasty though.

The 2019 Barolo vintage is less approachable now, but it's only going to get better from this point.

Needs a few years to mature in the bottle, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. A good food wine right now.

100% Nebbiolo grapes were aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 3 years.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$150.
