I’ve had several of this producer’s Barolos and, like this one, they always seem to display an unusual combination of light color and intense tannins. This one has a pleasant nose of rose petal and dried cherry, but an astringent note foreshadows the tannins to come. A big whack of cherry on the palate immediate gives way to astringency, unfortunately. Not a wine to enjoy without food, I’m hoping it will be more in its element when the dinner is ready.
