N: Roses, tar, eucalyptus, mint, pepper, Red flowers and fruits.
P:Bracing acidity, prickly, med-light body,( are we sure this isn’t Nebbiolo?)
Cherries, Very much like a cross between Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, and Sangiovese. I think I’ve said that before.
Black raspberry fruit, fine tannins, a med finish.!
As it sits in the glass, tobacco rears it’s head. The body fleshes out a bit. Acidity recedes.

Unexpectedly complex tempranillo with some firm tannins that reveal a new side of this grape. Into it, even if it shows some VA. Notes of raspberry, strawberry and maybe even rhubarb come to fore before cascading into smoked meats and hints of tobacco. — 19 days ago

Vinhas Velhas (Branco) Vinho Regional Beiras White Blend 2016

Revisiting this vintage, almost three years since my first review. Truly a stunning wine at this price point. It has developed a honeycomb and golden apple quality that is reminiscent of Loire chenin, and a combination of minerality and richness that suggests Alsace. But enough with the banal comparisons; this stands on its own as an outstanding white from indigenous varieties. A tad volatile, but it works well for the style. Terrific food companion and one of the finest values out there. — 20 days ago
