Another solid vintage of Ziereisen’s Entry Level Baden Spatburgunder. Dark garnet color with a ruby core. Fragrant aromas of red cherry/berry fruit, forest floor and a hint of smoke. Flavors of sour cherry, unripe strawberry and pomegranate fruit with additional hints of dried herbs, savory spices and minerals. Long lasting earthy finish and extremely smooth tannins. Recently I’ve found some of their stuff hit or miss but this is no joke especially for the price. Great “orange” wine with nice fruit, depth, acid, hint of grip, and verve. Not really any “natural” funk, perhaps the bottle age has evened it out. — 10 months ago
