What a lovely Chablis. Surprise of the night; not because we didn’t know it would be good, but because we didn’t know it would be this good. What a value. Loads of minerality. Needs more time, but decanted well and you could sense the goodness there. Classic Chablis nose and palate. Some oak there but really balanced everything out. Seek this out and put some back several more years. I love the 2014’s. — 6 days ago
This changed personality about 6 times over 6 hours... all interesting people. And ended with the best. Started well balanced, turned slightly sour, then a bit bretty, finally came together into a dark berry olive earthy suave character. Recommend with patience. — a month ago
A “simple” Bourgogne yet with the soul of Gevery shining brightly with earth and red fruits and heft and silky but firm textures and long finish. It’s fourteen years on and still got time left. Impressive. Can only imagine what his 1 crus are like. — 2 days ago
No. 3 in the White Burgundy Grand Cru lineup tasted blind. Nutty caramel note, muted fruit at this stage. Piercing intensity on the palate. Powerful. Wonderful. So much potential. I expect fireworks in 5 to 10 years for those lucky enough to be holding a bottle. The class of Chevalier shining through. — 4 days ago
Deliciously balanced with lovely structure and complexity and a long, elegant finish. — a month ago
I used half in some French onion soup and drank the rest — 9 days ago
Nose of dried violet, fire roasted green bell pepper, earth, cherry, iron.
Raspberry, cherry, cranberry, and earth. Still great acidity with dusty, slightly astringent tannin. Love that lingering cranberry bitterness on the finish.
Wonderful stuff with all the classic Loire cab franc notes you know and love. Still a lot of structure there 10 years out. Could go longer to soften out and evolve. — 8 days ago
Young but will so great from this new rare Gripa St. Joseph Cuvee. More finesse driven than the Berceau and sits between that and the regular St. Joseph. Gorgeous nose of smoked meat, mint, hint of oak, big red berry fruit, floral and superb granite. What one wants. I love it. As it aerates a perfume develops. Palate is deep, structured, fresh and ripe. So clean. Juicy and substantial tannins but elegant as well. Long finish with superb clarity and sap. Really well made and also young. But just a terrific debut. — 14 days ago
