Grifalco di Lucania

Aglianico del Vulture 2016

Beautiful cherry, dusty chocolate and smoky tar aromas very pushed forward. Flavors are juicy, silky and firm with remarkable tannic grip. Black pepper and grainy cocoa powder lingering on the cat tongue finish. There’s both a resinous and a fresh quality, owing to terrific acidity. Simply outstanding example of volcanic Aglianico at a great price. — 19 days ago

Caiarossa

Super Tuscan Blend 2011

Deep ruby hue with garnet rim variation. Mild extraction on the glass with heavy tearing. Nose offers red fruit, such as fresh cherry and raspberry, also muddled blackberry, leather, tobacco, tomato leaf, cured meat, vanilla, and cinnamon notes. Consistent notes on the palate, with mouth-watering acidity and soft tannins. Medium+ finish. Vintage 2011. ABV 14%. #Pergolaia #caiarossa #toscana #winesoftuscany #Italianwinelover #supertuscan #sangioveseblend #winedownwednesday — 2 days ago

Aglianico del Vulture 2015

Delightfully old-school. Highly expressive volcanic, mineral terroir imprint. Briary, racy fruit and lots of smoke, tar and crushed violet. — a month ago

Cantine Garrone

Munaloss Nebbiolo Blend

Nothing like a mountain Nebbiolo to get close to the weekend. True northern Italy. This is more than just tart, it has some soul: a little bit of roundness to the mouthfeel, medium- ish body; it’s delicious and completely worth finding. Nebbiolo, Croatina, & Barbera blend. Polaner importer. — 15 days ago

Fattoria di Bacchereto

Sassocarlo Terre a Mano Bianco Toscano 2016

Thank you so much to Holly at The Whitby for sharing this pick! Very pleasant to talk with and a wonderfully versatile palate.
I received for Xmas one of those nice sunlight alarm clocks that goes off with chirping birds in the morning and weirdly that’s what I thought of when I took the first sip of this. Acidic but not in a way that makes you want to throw it out the window. A nice little wake up call (but for the evening! not the morning) with just a nice lil fruity kick to make it pleasant for sipping.
A reminder that I’d really like to try more orange wines for the sake of simply Understanding.

Corvagialla

Sangiovese

Good juice but has more structure vs some of the producer’s other cuvées. Grippy tannins that will still take some time to integrate. — 16 days ago

Marchesi Antinori

Castello della Sala Bramìto Umbria Chardonnay 2018

Color is really light egg white. Nose is saturated with ripe banana, ripe pineapple, ripe peach, honey, oak and salty mineral, a bit Sprite, and spice. Nose is really beautiful. Taste follows the nose, yet lighter, with addition of tangerine and grapefruit. Aftertaste is in sync with the taste too, with notes shifted to mineral and zest. Just a bit too light to be great. — 9 days ago
