Fattoria Poggio di Sotto

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2018

Very nice. First bottle pulled of a half case we got when visiting the property 2.5 years ago. Def could take a good bit more time. The tannins seemed to flesh out with air. But still so refined with great balanced of deep earth, minerally fruit, excellent acid. Looking forward to seeing how this evolves. — a month ago

Poggio Lontano

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

I preferred the 2018, but still very good, still the clear bitter chocolate etc— just not the screaming deal the last bottle was. Seems a little more muted and anonymous (maybe it needs age or more air). 91. — 3 months ago

Bright, fresh, and pure. Red cherry, plum skin and savoury funk. A classic Rosso. Could do with a few more years. — 9 months ago

Poggio alle Mura Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

Excellente!!! Aromas of must, dark cherry, and tobacco. On the bud, dark stewed fruits and a bit of oakiness. Tannins are in control with a long finish. Great with pizza in Bologna! — 6 months ago

Poggio alla Pietra Brunello di Sonoma Sangiovese 2013

Storied Sonoma producer. This 100% #sangiovese grown on #moonmountaindistrict shows the power of terroir. Aromas and palate drinks nothing like Tuscan Sangiovese but instead it drinks closer to Cabernet and Bordeaux blend from the same mountain AVA with punchy black/purple fruit on the nose; distinctive edgy tannins on the palate set against pronounced acidity. 11 years of bottle age is only just starting to soften the tannins a bit. Beautiful age-worthy red wine. — 9 months ago
