Still in CO and still eating at Bird & Jim’s. This wine has a small cork issue - that was promptly solved by a sieve and decanter. Once we could taste - it was/is exquisite. Use of American oak provides a blended vanilla flavor. Soft tannins, bouquet of dark berries, medium finish and just good. — 19 days ago
Following on from the 2005 Blanco Reserva, the Tinto Reserva from the fabled 2001 vintage was in fact a little underwhelming, perhaps given lofty expectations and the exceptional white we’d just enjoyed. This was in a lovely spot, offering plenty of mellow enjoyment but not a great deal more. — 21 days ago
Columbia county 2.0: end of a meal, nightcap of sorts. So so perfumed with dill & vanilla & tree sap, as if Willy Wonka decided to get into winemaking. Really just lived for a while breathing this in. On palate it’s remarkably agile & light, even though the body of red fruits is firmly medium boned. No signs of decay or slowing down- even the cork was perfect-easily can go on another several decades ( it feels). God what a treat. — 8 days ago
Sixth and final round of tasting and we all went 0-3 on the reds. This one was so maddeningly obvious. The dill!
Deep ruby color that is thick as tar, there is an enormous amount of vanilla and jammy over-ripened black fruit. Lacking some of the floral notes I’d expect in. Reserva, it makes up for it with eucalyptus and leather, a touch of mint, and plenty of balsamic. There’s also an earthy mushroom thing happening. Moderate tannins, low acids. Plenty of alcohol.
How did we fail here @Jillian Varner? — 7 days ago
Oodles of earth, particularly that smoky-metallic flavor characteristic of the Priorat geology, pencil lead, coca, and red and black fruit. Tannic, intense flavors in the mouth with a moderate finish. — 7 days ago
A blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha and Graciano, aged in French oak. Deep Ruby with black berry fruit aromas and earthy spice. On the palate flavors of blueberry and blackberry with oak, cacao and vanilla spice. Lively acidity, firm rustic tannins, medium finish ending with smoky earthy notes. Drink now and over next 2 years. — 10 days ago

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. What a beautiful color.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Showing cherries, raspberries, black plums, currants, oak, light vanilla, spices, cola, chocolates, earth, wet leaves, peppercorn, pencil lead, dark coffee, rust, blood and herbs.
Dry on the palate with a nice mouthfeel. Shows nice complexity at this point.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and pomegranates.
This 13 year old is starting to drink very nicely now, and will continue to age in the next 7 years.
Needs 3 hours to open up properly and show itself. Easy drinking once it opens up. Elegant with good structure.
